France TV Distribution Kicks Off International Sales on French Thriller Series ‘Danger in the Valley’ (EXCLUSIVE)

France TV Distribution, a commercial entity linked to the French public broadcaster France Télévisions (one of Europe’s most influential TV companies), is launching global distribution for the thriller series “La Vallée en Danger” or “Danger in the Valley”, which is jointly penned by renowned French author Michel Bussi, a bestselling writer.

Cinétévé, based in Paris, has collaborated with France TV and Be-Films from Belgium to create ‘Danger in the Valley’. This thrilling production is set to debut at the February 23rd-27th edition of MIP London.

A productive and accomplished author named Bussi penned his debut original screenplay for a television show called “Prison Island” in 2023. During this project, he joined forces with the future collaborator on “Danger in the Valley,” Christian Clères.

On a tranquil island, known as “Prison Island,” peace was shattered when an armed activist group seized control and made captives of the entire population, transforming this idyllic, secluded location off the coast of Brittany into a prison.

A serene island called “Prison Island” was invaded by a group of activists armed with weapons, forcing the peaceful inhabitants of this isolated spot near Brittany into captivity and turning it from a haven into a penitentiary.

In “Danger in the Valley”, Bussi is re-teaming with Cléres for the six one-hour miniseries. 

In collaboration terms, “Prison Island” was born out of a joint effort between Cinétévé and France 2, and they’re repeating this partnership for “Danger in the Valley,” with Be-Films joining forces from Belgium as a co-producer.

The lead actors in this drama thriller are Anne Charrier, known for “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” Thierry Godard who has been in “Spiral” and “A French Village, The Head,” and Anna Cervinka from “Grand Ciel.” Notably, Godard and Cervinka are both members of the renowned Comédie Française as well.

As a movie enthusiast, I must share my excitement about “Danger in the Valley,” directed by the talented Elsa Bennet. This gripping tale unfolds in the serene village of Salvérac, hidden amidst the rugged landscapes of the Causses region. However, this picturesque setting is under siege as it finds itself threatened by a menacing shale gas drilling project.

As a film enthusiast, I find myself caught in the midst of a contentious battle within a quaint village. On one side, we have Charles Kaskia, the affluent engineer-billionaire, and the formidable Seth consortium, championing for a project that divides opinion. On the other hand, there’s the unyielding mayor Floriane Bourdieu (Charrier), spearheading those who fiercely oppose it.

In her efforts to halt the project, Bourdieu finds herself under ominous intimidation. This intense conflict carries a steep price for resistance that could surpass any anticipations she had.

With the assistance of engineer Thierry Godard (Pierre Donjon), Floriane will go to great lengths to halt this drilling operation, even if it means facing severe dangers from the industrialists.

In the latest film I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing, an impressive ensemble graces the screen. As Jana Kaskia, Anna Cervinka delivers a captivating performance that truly stands out. Nicolas Gob, as Rodolphe Durand, brings depth and complexity to his character, while Théo Augier’s portrayal of Samuel Duval is both engaging and thought-provoking. Philippe Resimont, as Max Desailly, adds a touch of mystery to the storyline, and John Robinson’s Kay Lewis and Jane Cara’s Kelly O’Brian round out the cast with their convincing performances. Lastly, Laura Sepul’s Prune Larcy and Emma Lemoine’s Camille Bourdieu add layers of intrigue that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. This talented group of actors elevates this film to a level that is not to be missed!

France 2 will broadcast the series in France on a still to be disclosed date.
