Fox has given the go-ahead for additional seasons on three of their adult-oriented animated shows: “Universal Basic Guys,” “Grimsburg,” and “Krapopolis.” (In this version, “greenlit” is replaced with “given the go-ahead for additional seasons”, making it clearer that more episodes will be produced.)
In Season 3, both “Grimsburg” and “Universal Basic Guys” will be making a comeback, while “Krapopolis” has already been confirmed for Season 5.
The animated series ‘Krapopolis,’ which has been commissioned for Season 5 even before Season 3, is set in mythical ancient Greece and follows the tale of a chaotic family comprising humans, gods, and monsters as they navigate the challenges of managing one of the world’s first cities. Amidst their attempts to avoid mutual destruction, the story revolves around Deliria (played by Hannah Waddingham), the goddess of self-destruction and impulsive decisions. According to the official description, she is as cunning as she is powerful, only concerned with preserving civilization if it will garner her more worshippers than her rivals on Mount Olympus.
Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy and Duncan Trussell also star.
The show was developed by Dan Harmon, who additionally acts as the executive producer, and is co-produced by Fox Entertainment Studios and Bento Box Entertainment. Steve Levy, Eric Kaplan, and showrunner Alex Rubens are also involved in executive production.
The series titled “Grimsburg” features Jon Hamm as Marvin Flute, an exceptional detective known for apprehending a cannibal clown and identifying a mid-century modern armoire correctly. However, there’s one enigma he hasn’t solved yet – his own identity. To unravel this mystery, Marvin must revisit Grimsburg, a place where every resident harbors multiple secrets. His goal is to regain the respect of his detective peers, confront his formidable ex-wife, and reconcile with his eccentric son. This is based on the official synopsis.
Among the other notable cast members are Erinn Hayes, Rachel Dratch, Alan Tudyk, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Greg Chun.
The animated series “Grimsburg” is developed by Bento Box Entertainment and belongs to Fox Entertainment. The creators of this series are Catlan McClelland and Matthew Schlissel. Among the executive producers are Hamm, Connie Tavel, Gail Berman, Hend Baghdady, and Chadd Gindin who serves as the showrunner.
The series ‘Universal Basic Guys’ centers around two siblings, Mark and Hank Hoagies (Adam Malamat), who are made unemployed due to automation. They are now participating in a novel basic income scheme, receiving $3,000 per month. With their newfound free time and financial freedom, they are seeking meaning in a world where their skills are no longer required,” as suggested by the series summary.
Supporting cast members include Talia Genevieve, Fred Armisen and Ally Maki.
The show is jointly produced by Fox Entertainment, in collaboration with Bento Box Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Television. The series creators, Adam and Craig Malamut, hold the roles of executive producers and showrunners, while Shane Kosakowski takes on the role of executive producer as well.
The news breaks a month following the network’s decision to extend “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” and “Bob’s Burgers” for another four seasons each. It was also disclosed then that “American Dad” is making a comeback on Fox, receiving the same four-season renewal.
