Fox Renews ‘The Floor’ and ‘Extracted’

Fox has agreed to extend the run of “The Floor,” hosted by Rob Lowe, as well as the survival competition series “Extracted” for additional seasons.

Approved” has been given the go-ahead for a second term, and “The Floor” has been granted seasons 4 and 5 to continue. (In this context, ‘terms’ or ‘seasons’ are used interchangeably.)

The show ‘Extracted’ presents 12 inexperienced participants battling against harsh environments, treacherous terrains, and potential encounters with dangerous predators in the unforgiving Canadian wilderness. Simultaneously, their families are confined at a hidden facility, monitoring their progress around the clock through live feeds. The outcome of each participant’s survival journey depends on decisions made by their families from the HQ. Each family member holds the power to decide whether their loved one possesses the necessary skills to endure the elements and be the last survivor, or if they will press the “Extract” button, withdrawing their loved one and entire family from the competition. The question ‘Extracted’ poses is: how far are families willing to push their loved ones for a chance to win $250,000?

The series “Extracted” was developed by B17 Entertainment (an offshoot of Sony Pictures Television) in partnership with Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions. The executive producers for this project are Rhett Bachner, Brien Meagher, Sylvester Stallone himself, Braden Aftergood, Kourosh Taj, Rob Buchta, and Lauren Taylor Harding who serves as the showrunner.

The program initially aired in February and concluded its initial season in April, as per Fox’s reports. It marked the best-rated premiere for an unscripted series in approximately a year.

In every episode of “The Floor” game show, 100 competitors battle it out on an enormous interactive LED floor divided into 100 squares, each symbolizing a distinct trivia topic. The first competitor chosen at random selects one of their neighboring opponents for a fierce trivia competition in the opponent’s category. The winner seizes the loser’s square, growing their territory and gaining an advantage, while the defeated contestant leaves the game. The victor then decides whether to attack further to conquer more of the board or let a new competitor be chosen. The first player to control all squares wins a life-altering grand prize worth $250,000.

Talpa holds the rights to “The Floor” format and collaborates with Eureka Productions and BiggerStage under the Talpa Studios label. The executive producers are John de Mol, Maartin Meijs, Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, Jayne Parker, Pat Kiely, Sean O’Riordan, and showrunner Anthony Carbone. Host Lowe also serves as a co-executive producer on the project.

Initially airing in January 2024, “The Floor” quickly garnered enough interest for a second and third season by May of the same year. The premiere episode of its third season broke records, making it the most-viewed unscripted entertainment broadcast since 2023, as reported by Fox.
