Forza Motorsport Devs Finally Take a Sharper Approach. Game's Roadmap Sparks Wave of Fan Enthusiasm

As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of racing game experience under my belt, I must say that the latest announcement from Turn 10 Studios has given me a newfound hope for Forza Motorsport. After years of dwindling player base and lackluster updates, this comprehensive action plan for the rest of the year is nothing short of refreshing.

It’s likely you’re aware that Forza Motorsport hasn’t been doing well recently. The player base, although modest, has been dwindling (as shown in the SteamDB statistics). Even the addition of new tracks every two months hasn’t managed to reverse this decline. However, there’s some good news: yesterday, Turn 10 Studios shared a detailed strategy for the remainder of the year, which could potentially increase the game’s appeal and popularity.

Update 12 (September)

The major modifications are expected to appear with the upcoming release, tentatively scheduled between September 9th and 11th. This Update 12 is set to debut new features:

  1. Challenge Hub, where we will complete specific goals in various game modes (career, multiplayer, rivals) in exchange for cars, credits, and other rewards;
  2. the option to unlock new cars in multiplayer, which were previously reserved for career mode – we will obtain them by completing a specified number of races selected from the recommended competitions called Featured Multiplayer;
  3. spectator mode in private multiplayer races, along with additional camera shots and other improvements in replays;
  4. more advanced weather configuration options will be available in single-player free-for-all and private multiplayer. Players will be able to set weather conditions at the beginning, middle, and end of the race, as well as determine the probability of their changes.

Absolutely, you can expect updates like fresh car models and bug corrections. However, we need to hold off a bit longer for the specifics regarding these updates.

Update 13 (October)

Previously, it was anticipated that by October, we would receive an additional track. Now, it’s official – this new track will be Sunset Peninsula, a location reminiscent of its appearance in Forza Motorsport 4, a place that series enthusiasts have dearly missed. This new track is a unique roval design, combining the characteristics of both oval and road tracks, and we’ll get to experience it in five distinct variations.

Moreover, commencing from this month, player-selected competitions will start appearing in our multiplayer events due to a voting process.

Update 15 (December)

In approximately two months, we’re guaranteed to witness the comeback of Bathurst, the iconic Australian track, affectionately known as Mount Panorama. This highly anticipated return is from Forza Motorsport 7. The revamped version will be accompanied by events showcasing local automobiles and racing events.

Update 13/14/15

The game will likely gain many new elements by the year’s end, though the precise month it will be released isn’t yet determined.

  1. drifting competitions and Formula Drift cars designed for them (added to the showroom); initially, this mode will be available in singleplayer casual mode and private multiplayer, but over time drifting meets are expected to appear as recommended multiplayer competitions;
  2. selected Career Mode events from previous updates will be added to the game permanently, along with the cars that could be unlocked in them;
  3. the Forza Race Regulations (FRR) penalty system is undergoing further improvements, with changes set to become more frequent and significant as the developer increases internal resources to support the tool;
  4. a system that automatically turns cars into ghosts in multiplayer mode, activated e.g. during accidents or when a mean player fails to brake before a turn, trying to ram rivals;
  5. additional settings of proximity radar;
  6. Creative Hub, modeled on Forza Horizon 5, is a central hub enabling easier browsing of player creations: car paintings, tuning settings, race replays, and photos;
  7. improvements to the Forza Horizon 5-style paint editor.

Update 16 and more (2025 year)

To date, a rather broad outline for next year’s developments has been unveiled – more automobiles, circuits, and gameplay enhancements are on the horizon. Essentially, the developers have made it clear that they will be continuing to work on the game. The only detailed aspect revealed is the permanent inclusion of new career mode challenges centered around racing cars.

Forza Insiders

Although the article didn’t cover enhancements to the AI of computer opponents or player stats, as some community concerns had hoped, it still generated a surge of excitement among players due to its detailed and open approach.

The positive atmosphere is additionally enhanced by the announcement from the previous day. On Wednesday, Turn 10 studio launched the Forza Insiders program, which aims to give select fans a greater say in the development of Forza Motorsport. After signing the confidentiality agreement, you will have the opportunity to test upcoming features in the game and share your feedback directly with the development team in a dedicated, private section of the game’s discussion forum. You will find a registration form on the forza.net website.
