Former Cinecittà Studios CEO Nicola Maccanico Appointed Head of Fremantle Italy

As a seasoned cinephile with a keen eye for industry trends, I must say that these appointments of Nicola Maccanico and Bruno Fallot to their new roles at Fremantle are nothing short of brilliant moves by the company. With their extensive experience in the film and TV industry, these two titans will undoubtedly lead their respective teams to great heights.

Previously holding the position as CEO at Cinecittà Studios, Nicola Maccanico has now been designated to lead as the CEO for the recently established Fremantle Italy Group.

Maccanico, a previous high-ranking executive at Warner Bros. and Sky Italia, was driving a major transformation of Cinecittà. However, he stepped down in June after three years, following Italy’s right-wing government’s decision to restructure the studio’s management team.

He played a crucial role in revitalizing the renowned movie production studios, which attracted major productions like Roland Emmerich’s gladiator series “Those About to Die” featuring Anthony Hopkins and Netflix’s historical drama “The Decameron” last year.

Maccanico has been appointed as the supervisor for Fremantle Italy’s diverse Italian operations, which encompass the labels Wildside, The Apartment Pictures, Lux Vide, and Fremantle Italy. The CEOs of these entities, Sonia Rovai, Annamaria Morelli, Luca Bernabei, and Marco Tombolini will now report to him directly. Additionally, he will be a part of the global leadership team at Fremantle, as stated.

In a different development, Bruno Fallot, CEO of Fremantle France, has been elevated to manage Fremantle’s production businesses in France, Spain, Portugal, and Israel. In this new role, Fallot is tasked with shaping the strategy for these regions to keep producing exceptional content across various genres. Moreover, he will also be part of the Fremantle Global Leadership Team.

Since 2018, serving as the leader of Fremantle France, Fallot has formed a fresh team and consistently strengthened Fremantle France’s status, solidifying its place as a significant player within the French television sector.

Andra Scrosati, Fremantle’s Group COO and CEO for Continental Europe expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with Nicola and Bruno to advance our business in Southern Europe. As we move forward with our investment and expansion plans, we aim to increase the diversity of our Fremantle businesses and labels.
