In the highly acclaimed Amazon series “Reacher,” Alan Ritchson delivers an outstanding performance as Jack Reacher. I’m eagerly anticipating his role in any of his forthcoming films like “War Machine” and “The Man with the Bag.” The initial three seasons of “Reacher” have been a gripping and hard-to-resist hit, with Ritchson proving he could carry on playing the character for another 10 seasons. As of now, it’s unclear which Jack Reacher novel will be the basis for “Reacher” season 4, but I’m certain it will prolong Ritchson’s streak of success, accompanied by the debut of the Neagley spin-off series.
Although both seasons 4 of Reacher and season 1 of Neagley are likely to be very good or even exceptional, what truly excites me is the prospect of seeing Steve Ritchson on the big screen once more soon. Ritchson’s most recent significant role in a feature film was in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, directed by Guy Ritchie and released in 2024, which unfortunately didn’t receive much attention. Prior to that, his appearances were limited to only two films since 2023 – the drama Ordinary Angels led by Hilary Swank and the sequel Fast X of the action adventure epic series. Given these circumstances, it’s high time for Ritchson to shine in a major blockbuster movie. His upcoming projects should address this long-standing need.
Alan Ritchson Has Multiple Exciting Upcoming Action Movies
He Is Attached To Star In At Least 6 Upcoming Action Movies
In the realm of cinematic action, I find myself eagerly anticipating the dynamic lineup that Dwayne “The Rock” Ritchson has in store for us. Among these upcoming projects are a mix of heart-pounding thrillers and side-splitting comedies. One title that particularly catches my eye is “The Man in the Bag,” a festive action comedy slated for 2025’s holiday season, where I team up with Arnold Schwarzenegger for our first joint venture on the big screen. Joining us is the talented Awkwafina, who’s graced us with her charm in films like “Crazy Rich Asians” and “The Farewell.”
Another project that piques my interest is “Playdate,” another hilarious action comedy, this time featuring Kevin James (remember “Paul Blart: Mall Cop”?), Alan Tudyk (he was great in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”), and the brilliant Isla Fisher (“Arrested Development” fan, anyone?). These are just a few highlights from Ritchson’s action-packed schedule. Stay tuned for more updates!
Upcoming Movie | Character | Also Starring |
---|---|---|
The Man with the Bag | Vance | Arnold Schwarzenegger, Awkwafina |
Playdate | Jeff | Kevin James, Alan Tudyk, Isla Fisher |
Motor City | John Miller | Shailene Woodley, Ben Foster |
War Machine | TBA | Dennis Quaid, Esai Morales |
Runner | Hank Malone | Owen Wilson, Rodrigo Santoro |
Painter | TBA | Amber Midthunder |
Fortune | TBA | TBA |
In the realm of pulse-pounding action films, Ritchson will appear in Motor City, a gritty story set in ’70s Detroit, where his character John Miller embarks on a vengeful journey after being falsely accused of a crime, imprisoned by a resentful gangster. Co-starring with Ritchson are Shailene Woodley and Ben Foster. War Machine is another action-packed sci-fi thriller that chronicles the last trainees of a special ops boot camp as they face a lethal extraterrestrial threat. Runner, an action-packed thriller, follows the story of a skilled courier who must deliver a liver within three hours on the shores of Australia.
In the film titled “Painter,” scripted by Derek Kolstad who is known for writing John Wick, Amber Midthunder will portray a character on a quest to locate her presumably kidnapped father (possibly Ritchson). Moreover, Ritchson is set to appear in Fortune, a production of Jerry Bruckheimer, with the screenplay expected to be penned by Neil Widener and Gavin James – the writers behind the Minecraft Movie. Additionally, Ritchson is also involved with an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ 2024 novel, Counting Miracles.
Alan Ritchson Deserves To Become A True Action Movie Star
He’s Well On His Way To Becoming One Of the Biggest Action Stars Of The Decade
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but feel that “Reacher” has the makings of an epic saga that could easily dominate the cinematic landscape well into the 2020s and beyond, thanks to Lee Child’s vast treasure trove of source material. However, with Alan Ritchson embodying the spirit of the action heroes who defined the 1980s, it seems a shame that his talent hasn’t yet been fully harnessed for blockbuster action films. There’s something about him that recalls the raw charisma and physical presence of legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, who became household names in the world of action cinema. With streaming services and television shows now holding more sway than ever before, Ritchson seems tailor-made for the silver screen.
It’s possible that some of these upcoming films could help propel Ritchson into becoming a major action star. Movies like War Machine, which is generating a lot of buzz, as well as the others, have potential thanks to strong supporting casts and creative teams. In essence, these projects mirror what established action stars such as Bruce Willis were accomplishing during their peak years. If all goes according to plan, Ritchson could be producing one or two action films per year, similar to veterans like Jason Statham and Liam Neeson. I hope that Reacher continues for another season, but I don’t want it to hinder Ritchson’s rise to movie stardom.
