For The First Time In A Decade, Xbox Is Call Of Duty's Most Popular Platform

As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia seeing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 dominating Xbox once more. It’s like stepping back into my old living room, where my original Xbox stood tall and proud, and the sound of gunfire echoed through the halls.

For the past ten years, the popularity of Call of Duty has been higher on Xbox than any other gaming platform, largely thanks to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Game Pass.

In a recent interview with Game File, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer explained that their goal is to make gaming available across multiple locations. He noted that there isn’t any existing platform like Xbox Game Pass that operates beyond individual devices. Most current gaming platforms restrict games to specific devices, but Microsoft aims to create a more expansive platform that connects creators and players in a horizontal manner, as suggested by the feedback they’ve received.

Since the release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 2014, Xbox has been the primary platform for playing a Call of Duty title, as reported by CharlieIntel. Now, we wonder why Xbox has regained prominence in the world of Call of Duty? According to Phil Spencer, the key factor is Game Pass.

As a dedicated gamer, I can attest that the synergy between Microsoft and Activision’s marketing powerhouses was truly impressive. They effectively communicated the exciting news that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was joining the Game Pass library, ensuring it didn’t go unnoticed by gaming enthusiasts like myself!

Spencer expressed his great pride in Black Ops 6, stating, “I witnessed the Microsoft and Activision teams seamlessly collaborate while creating the Game Pass marketing campaign.

After the release of the game, Microsoft didn’t stop promoting it. The arrival of Black Ops 6 Season 1 unveiled an eerie Easter egg for the famous Nuketown map, which is designed as a nuclear test site reminiscent of Fallout, featuring model homes populated by mannequins.

Before Microsoft acquired Activision in 2022, I, as a dedicated fan, couldn’t get enough of Call of Duty on my Xbox. Part of its enduring appeal was that Microsoft had secured exclusive rights to certain DLC and promotional campaigns for the franchise from Activision, which made my gaming experience even more immersive and enjoyable.
