As a seasoned gamer who’s been around the block more times than I care to count, let me tell you, the sudden arrival of Valorant on consoles has sent shockwaves through the gaming community! I remember when League of Legends first graced our PC screens, and now here we are with its spin-off making a splash on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It’s almost as if Riot Games is playing a game of “Where’s Waldo,” but instead of Waldo, it’s Valorant, and the hunt is on!
Riot Games Studio has pulled off an unexpected move by releasing the console version of Valorant, a surprise that was unveiled suddenly in June. Previously, there had been no information about its release date, and it appears as though beta-testing occurred only yesterday. Yet, here we are with Valorant now playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S! Don’t forget to check out the newly launched movie trailer for this action-packed shooter (located below).
Based on my years of gaming experience, I strongly advise anyone embarking on their console journey with the offline version of this first-person shooter (FPS) game to keep a few key details in mind:
- Valorant doesn’t offer matches between PC and console players;
- despite this, players’ accounts on individual platforms are linked (this means that progress and equipment are shared);
- all updates will appear at the same time on both PC and consoles.
It’s important to highlight that although the launch was relatively low-key, it represents a substantial milestone for Riot Games as it marks their first in-house developed game (not just published) to be released on Sony and Microsoft platforms – with League of Legends: Wild Rift being the next one, set for PS4 and XOne. Moreover, the debut of Valorant coincided with the commencement of this year’s Valorant Champions Tour.
