Football Manager 25 Delayed, Cutting Some Features

As a seasoned Football Manager veteran with countless hours spent on virtual pitches and transfer negotiations, I must admit that the delay of FM25 and the omission of International Management mode has left me somewhat disheartened. However, having navigated through numerous updates and iterations over the years, I understand the complexities and challenges that come with such a vast project.

Football Manager 2025, initially set for an early November launch, has experienced a delay of several weeks. As a result, some anticipated features won’t make it into the initial version. Studio head Miles Jacobson disclosed that the game is now slated for a late November release. The precise release date will be revealed towards the end of September

In regards to the playable mode titled International Management, it’s been announced that it won’t be available in Football Manager 25 (FM25), its console and touch versions due to challenges transferring the series to Unity engine. The developers stated that the mode didn’t meet their “initial quality threshold.” They also analyzed the game data, revealing that only 5.6% of FM24 PC saves featured International Management. Jacobson mentioned this data supports their belief that they need to significantly improve the user experience for the feature. Fortunately, it will make a comeback in Football Manager 26, while continuing to be accessible in the mobile version as it follows a separate development path and employs distinct coding

In the updated version of Football Manager, you won’t see player weights anymore as they’ve become less relevant due to the inclusion of women’s leagues. Developers have observed that weight changes more frequently in women compared to men. Although the game will still use a fundamental measurement for simulation purposes, this data will not be displayed to players

In Football Manager, it’s the second announcement of feature reductions for version 25. The Create-a-club and Versus modes were scaled down in June. These features are planned to come back in version 26
