Family and legacy of Michael Duarte
I was really shocked to hear that gamer Duarte passed away on November 8th. Apparently, he was traveling in Texas with his wife, Jessica, and their daughter, Oakley, when a terrible accident happened. His friends started a GoFundMe to help Jessica bring him home to California and cover the costs of the funeral, and everyone’s sending their support and prayers to the family right now.

Duarte was raised in Calipatria, California, close to the Mexican border. He started cooking at age 14, helping out at his uncle’s Mexican restaurant. After gaining experience in several San Diego restaurants, he began creating content during the pandemic.
Duarte recently shared on Instagram that he left his job in the restaurant industry while struggling with his mental health. He went to rehab and eventually rediscovered joy through making food videos. He explained that creating content wasn’t just a fun pastime – it had the potential to become a career and something truly meaningful.
Duarte frequently included his daughter in his videos and explained that he aimed to provide food to those who needed it most.
