Following Game Relaunch, MultiVersus Developer Now Has A New Owner

As a longtime gamer and MultiVersus player, I can’t help but be thrilled about the recent news that Warner Bros. Games has acquired Player First Games, the studio behind my favorite platform fighter. I’ve been following MultiVersus since its beta days, and I’ve seen firsthand how much dedication and passion the team at Player First Games has put into making this game a success.

Warner Bros. Games has announced that it acquired Player First Games, the developer of MultiVersus.

Tony Huynh and Chris White, the founders of Player First Games, will maintain their roles as heads of the studio while simultaneously taking orders from Carlos Barbosa, the vice president and studio leader at Warner Bros. Games San Diego.

As a seasoned gaming industry professional with extensive experience in game development and team management, I am thrilled about our team joining forces with Warner Bros. Games. I truly believe that this collaboration will significantly enhance MultiVersus and bring about an exceptional gaming experience for our players.

Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad commented, “We’ve collaborated with Player First Games for quite some time to develop and introduce MultiVersus. We’re thrilled to officially bring this innovative team under the Warner Bros. Games umbrella.”

MultiVersus was released for open beta on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in the year 2022. After running for a year, Warner Bros. Games took it down from digital marketplaces, reassuring players that all their content would still be available when the game came back. The game made its comeback on May 28 with additional bonuses to entice players to rejoin.

Warner Brothers Games announced recently that Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice will join MultiVersus as new characters in its second season. In our GameSpot review, we commented, “MultiVersus, Warner Brothers’ collective brawl, stands tall among platform fighting game competitors.”
