Florida man sues Outback Steakhouse after toilet allegedly shattered as he used it

A man in Florida is suing Outback Steakhouse, claiming he was badly hurt when the toilet he was sitting on suddenly broke at one of their restaurants.

A lawsuit was filed on December 9th in Marion County court against Outback Steakhouse of Florida, LLC. The case concerns an incident that reportedly happened on March 26th at their Ocala, Florida location.

Court documents show that Michael Green was at a restaurant when he went into the restroom and sat on a toilet in the accessible stall. The lawsuit claims the toilet unexpectedly broke and fell apart, causing him to fall.

Lawsuit claims toilet collapsed while customer was seated

Green claims he suffered serious injuries in the incident. His lawyers say the restaurant was careless and didn’t keep the toilet in good condition, specifically that it wasn’t properly secured to the floor. They argue the restaurant should have regularly inspected and maintained the toilet to prevent the injury.

The lawsuit also states that the restaurant was aware, or should have been aware, of a dangerous situation and didn’t warn customers or fix the problem.

Following the incident, Green reported lasting physical and emotional harm, including a serious and permanent impairment or disfiguring scars. He also incurred medical bills, lost income, and experienced pain and suffering.

Green is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of interest and costs.
