As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the virtual seas of Grand Theft Auto, I can’t help but find a strange sense of familiarity in this real-life story. The line between digital mayhem and actual chaos seems to be blurring ever so slightly.
A jet-ski operator was apprehended for reportedly pushing a kayaker into the water by using his watercraft, an incident captured on video and widely shared online.
Last Sunday, the 27th of October, user coastalfloats from TikTok uploaded a video on his page requesting help from viewers in locating an individual he had a dispute with.
In the video, he was angling from a kayak when a gang of jet ski drivers passed through his fishing spot – chasing all the fish off. Annoyed, the TikTok creator challenged one of the riders who intentionally created large wakes near his kayak.
The ocean’s waves knocked over coastal floats and a number of his expensive belongings into the water, which he captured on video.
Later on, the TikTok user disclosed that two individuals in a different boat came to his aid after the incident, providing him with a dry towel and a secure spot to rest for a short while.
By closely examining the first video, where both the jet ski and its operator (Phillip Bunch) were clearly visible, viewers managed to pinpoint him using the registration number on the watercraft. Subsequent investigation by Coastalfloats further disclosed that this individual was apprehended and indicted for several criminal allegations.
Based on the Nassau County Jail’s inmate search, it appears that Bunch is currently not in detention. Yet, court documents indicate that he has been charged with a total of six felonies.
On October 28th, he faced charges for battery and causing damage exceeding $1,000. The following day, additional charges were brought against him: failure to report a boat accident, leaving the scene, operating recklessly, and obstructing law enforcement.
With each passing moment, as the videos spread like wildfire on various social media platforms, an increasing number of people flooded the comment sections to express their backing and admiration for the fisherman.
“Nah man. lawyer up and take everything from that guy,” one user replied.
Another said: “He likely will have to pay you to complete probation or anything.”
“Glad you were able to get the footage you needed for proof and glad you’re ok,” commented a third.
It’s not the first time a viral TikTok incident has resulted in an arrest in Florida. Specifically, on October 18, Lieutenant Dan was taken into custody and his boat was seized because he is accused of causing a “public health hazard.
