Like every year, we’ve sadly lost some well-known figures, and 2026 began with the passing of fashion legend Valentino Garavani at age 93. He died peacefully at home in Rome, surrounded by family and friends, from natural causes. Since then, many celebrities have shared heartfelt tributes online, celebrating both his incredible talent and his admirable personality.
One of the A-list celebrities to pen a tribute was none other than Oscar-nominated actress Florence Pugh, who went viral for wearing a sheer Valentino dress that began the “free the nipple” movement. This even led her to becoming the face of the brand. Pugh took to Instagram story to write the following message:
The best truly are the best because they’re open-minded, not inflexible. They have strong beliefs and are usually correct! Rest in peace, Valentino. I’m so grateful you welcomed me into your world, and it was always a privilege to carry your name.
Gwyneth Paltrow, the Academy Award-winning actress, recently shared a heartfelt post on social media remembering Valentino, the celebrated designer she’s collaborated with on many of her most famous outfits. She posted a lovely photo of them together with a touching message, which you can see below.

Aside from being the star of The Kardashians (streaming with a Hulu subscription) and a recent actress, Kim Kardashian is also known for being a style icon. She’s another celeb who seemingly had a close relationship with Valentino, sharing a sweet photo on her Instagram story, where she’s seen walking arm in arm with the late designer.

Sarah Jessica Parker is famous for her role as the stylish Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City and And Just Like That, both available on HBO Max. But she’s also a fashion icon in her own life. She recently shared a post on Instagram about the passing of Valentino; see it below.

The fashion industry has been collectively mourning since it was revealed that Valentino passed away. Case in point: pillar of the community Donatella Versace posted a photo on her Instagram, with the caption reading:
We are deeply saddened by the passing of a remarkable artist who will be cherished forever. Our hearts go out to Giancarlo, who was a constant companion and unwavering support throughout his life. He will be greatly missed.
The many online tributes represent just a small fraction of those touched by Valentino’s work over the years, including countless fans who weren’t famous. Beyond his incredible fashion, these posts demonstrate how much he was loved as an individual. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this incredibly sad time.
