Disney+ is reportedly working on an animated series based on the popular book “Artemis Fowl,” according to a post by MyTimeToShineHello on X (formerly Twitter). Fans are excited about this potential new adaptation, hoping it will be a more faithful and successful take on the story than the 2020 film.
The Artemis Fowl series centers around a 12-year-old criminal mastermind who kidnaps an elf, Holly Short, in an attempt to rebuild his family’s wealth. Throughout the 11 books, Artemis transforms from a somewhat villainous character into someone with strong morals and depth. While the movie featured a talented cast – including Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Judi Dench, and Colin Farrell – it didn’t quite capture the magic and intricate storytelling of the original novels.
Both reviewers and audiences strongly disliked the Kenneth Branagh-directed movie, criticizing its confusing storyline, fast pace, and significant changes from the original Eoin Colfer book.
Disney is planning to revive Artemis Fowl as an animated series, which might be a better way to showcase the detailed and magical world created by author Eoin Colfer, full of fairies, dwarves, and advanced technology.
