FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf Settle Sexual-Battery Lawsuit

On July 18, FKA Twigs chose to resolve her sexual battery lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf through a settlement agreement. This decision was finalized on July 21, as indicated by court documents. The lawsuit, which involved charges of sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress, was initiated by Twigs in December 2020, following their relationship from 2018 to 19. In a joint statement released through Variety, both parties’ legal representatives expressed a commitment to moving forward constructively: “In pursuit of a positive future, we have decided to settle our case out of court.” The specific terms of the settlement will remain confidential, but they expressed hopes for each other’s personal wellbeing, professional success, and peace. Notably, Twigs filed for dismissal with prejudice, which means she cannot refile these particular claims in the future.

The initial legal document submitted by Twigs alleges that Shia LaBeouf subjected her to persistent abuse, which involved gripping her forcefully enough to leave bruises and intentionally transmitting a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) to her. During an interview with the New York Times, she shared that her experiences with Shia were the most harrowing of her entire life. She stated, “I don’t believe people would expect it to happen to me, but unfortunately, it can happen to anyone.
