I’m so hyped! Lyrical Games and One More Level – the team behind Ghostrunner, which I absolutely loved – just announced their new game, Valor Mortis. It’s a first-person soulslike, and we’ll finally get to play it in Fall 2026. Can’t wait!
A new trailer for Valor Mortis was revealed during the Triple-i Initiative showcase. It highlights how players will move around the game, including using a grapple hook and the Rapier weapon. The game is currently being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam), and is planned to launch in Fall 2026. You can watch the gameplay trailer and learn more from developers One More Level and Lyrical Games here:
Independent publisher Lyrical Games revealed a new trailer for their upcoming action game, Valor Mortis, during the Triple-i Initiative showcase. Developed by One More Level, the studio behind the popular Ghostrunner series, Valor Mortis is a fast-paced, challenging combat game inspired by the Souls-like genre. The game is a dark and fantastical take on 19th-century Europe, set after Napoleon’s conquests and plagued by a mysterious illness. Valor Mortis is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Steam in Fall 2026.
The new trailer for the Triple-i Initiative game, Valor Mortis, shows off its intense, dark take on the Napoleonic era and its fast-paced, first-person combat. It highlights how players will move around – with a grappling hook and wall-running inspired by the developers’ previous game, Ghostrunner – allowing them to outmaneuver enemies and navigate difficult environments. Players will also wield the Rapier, a challenging weapon that requires precise timing for parries and dodges. Be warned: you’ll encounter terrifying creatures like The Orphan, a monstrous being hiding in the sewers who attacks with a stream of corrosive acid.
As a huge fan of One More Level, I can tell you their new game, Valor Mortis, is their biggest swing yet! It’s a totally original game built in Unreal Engine 5, and it takes everything they’re good at – fast-paced first-person action – and mixes it with the challenging, deliberate combat of Soulslike games. Plus, the whole thing has this really cool, dark atmosphere that I’m already loving.
Valor Mortis Key Features:
Napoleon’s wars have unleashed a terrifying plague across Europe. You play as William, a soldier brought back to life by Napoleon’s spirit, and now forced to journey through a devastated continent. He must navigate ruined battlefields, vast mountains, and crumbling cities, all while battling a gruesome disease that flows through his own body – the very source of his unnatural life.
Experience demanding, skill-based combat in first-person, similar to the *Soulslike genre. Built on the expertise of One More Level, the game focuses on immersive and challenging fights where timing and stamina are key. Dying isn’t a failure, but a way to learn and improve your skills in blocking, dodging, and landing powerful attacks.
Become a master of combat by combining elegant, historical weapons like rapiers and pistols with powerful supernatural abilities. Control William and unleash a devastating fighting style that blends skill and the supernatural.
Explore a vast world in the style of Metroidvania games! As William, you’ll gain new abilities to escape and outmaneuver Napoleon’s undead army, the Eternal Guard. Be careful as you explore, discover hidden secrets in the environment, and try to survive the ruins of a never-ending war.
The game boasts striking visuals and a dark, atmospheric style, enhanced by dramatic lighting and mature subject matter. Its original soundtrack is a collaborative effort between Arkadiusz Reikowski, a composer known for his work on titles like Silent Hill 2 Remake, The Medium, and Layers of Fear, and the in-house composer Oskar Bała.
