First MLB The Show 25 Details Revealed, Sets And Seasons To Be Retired

As a long-time fan of MLB The Show, I must say that the latest announcement from Sony’s San Diego Studio has filled me with a sense of relief and excitement! After years of dealing with the dreaded Sets and Seasons feature, it’s finally time to bid farewell to this much-maligned system. Being able to use any card I want in Season 4 of MLB The Show 24 is like getting a second chance at life – or at least, a second chance at winning that elusive World Series title!

After wrapping up the 2024 Major League Baseball season, Sony’s San Diego Studio has shared a sneak peek of upcoming features in MLB The Show 25. Immediately, they made it clear that the disliked Sets and Seasons feature will not be making a comeback.

It seems that Sets and Seasons is being discontinued before the release of MLB 25, as the developer has announced that players will have the freedom to utilize any card they prefer during Season 4 of MLB The Show 24. This includes cards that were previously collected in earlier seasons.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, we value the input from our gaming community and want to share some exciting news: Sets and Seasons won’t be featured in MLB The Show 25. This means that all cards can be utilized freely throughout the entire year! Furthermore, insights from MLB 24 Season 4 will give players a sneak peek into how developers plan to design next year’s game.

In simpler terms, starting from Season 4, players can earn rewards for MLB 25 as they progress, utilizing the freshly introduced Now & Later MLB The Show Packs. Each of these Now & Later packs can be exchanged for a standard pack in MLB The Show 25.

In addition to what’s already been revealed, the developer hinted at several upgrades expected in the upcoming edition of the series. These enhancements include more immersive player narratives in Road to the Show, revamped aspects of Diamond Dynasty replacing Sets and Seasons, and enhanced Franchise trade statistics and offseason activities. Moreover, the gameplay is set for a revamp, with MLB 25 focusing on enhancing quick-time events, defensive artificial intelligence, and refined pathing to create a more captivating in-game experience.

In the months leading to the beginning of the Major League Baseball season in March next year, we’ll likely get updates on MLB 25 and the exciting features it will introduce for the franchise.
