2025’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” movie stills revealed Julia Garner as Silver Surfer in her human form, minus the silver CGI skin she usually wears. This is the first time Garner has appeared in her natural state on set, which happened during a new filming session for “The Fantastic Four,” prior to its scheduled theater release on July 25.

On May 7, 2025, Daily Mail shared photos of Garner posing on a rock close to the California ocean, during filming in Los Angeles. She was dressed in a white dress featuring a delicate blue pattern at the top and had her blonde hair neatly tied back.

It appears that the reports were unclear about the specific scenes being shot during the filming of The Fantastic Four. Yet, it’s possible that these reshoots have been arranged well ahead of time, as it’s a common practice for almost every Marvel Studios movie to undergo reshoots just before they hit the big screen.

In an upcoming storyline, Garner will encounter a revamped Silver Surfer character called Shalla-Bal. This character made its debut in Marvel Comics way back in 1968’s The Silver Surfer #1. Known as the Herald of Galactus, this role will continue to be held by Shalla-Bal even in the Fantastic Four comic series. A recent trailer hinted that she would forewarn the team about their planet being targeted for destruction with the ominous statement: “[Your] planet has been marked for destruction.

In the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe phase, Garner is set to join an illustrious ensemble of actors in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” which marks Marvel Studios’ next feature film and the beginning of Phase 6. The cast includes Pedro Pascal portraying Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.
