First Look At Yellowstone Spinoff The Madison Already Has Me Comparing Michelle Pfeiffer’s Stacy To Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton

Fans of Taylor Sheridan have been waiting for details about his new western drama, but Paramount+ has now released a first look at The Madison, a Yellowstone spinoff. We can finally see what to expect from the show’s impressive cast, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, and Rebecca Spence, and we now know it will premiere in 2026.

You’ll be able to stream The Madison on Paramount+ starting Saturday, March 14th. It’s not yet known what time the episodes will become available – it could be early in the day or later at night. The first teaser is out now, and it includes a surprising cast member reveal, so get ready to think New York!

The initial preview doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but early reports indicate Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, Stacy Clayburn, moves to Montana with her family after her husband and brother-in-law die in a plane crash. While details may have changed during production – the preview doesn’t emphasize this tragedy – I suspect Kurt Russell and Matthew Fox’s characters won’t make it past the first episode, given how little screen time they have. I might have felt differently if the plane crash hadn’t been shown in the preview.

Even though we don’t know much about these characters yet, the preview strongly suggests a connection between Michelle Pfeiffer’s Stacy and Kelly Reilly’s popular Beth Dutton. Both women are married to very strong, traditionally masculine men, seem quick to confront anyone who challenges them, and clearly have great taste when it comes to bathtubs!

Beth’s memorable horse-trough bath in the first season of Yellowstone quickly established her as a strong, no-nonsense character. It’s not surprising, then, that we see Stacy enjoying a luxurious tub in the opening scenes of The Madison. This might be a recurring theme for creator Taylor Sheridan, as 1883 also included a notable bathtub scene with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. It seems he prefers something a little more unique than a typical fiberglass tub.

Although Beth’s husband wasn’t killed on Yellowstone, she was deeply saddened and struggled with depression when John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, died at the beginning of Season 5. While Beth had other people to focus her frustration on, Stacy might not have that same opportunity.

It seems Stacy is now in therapy, played by Will Arnett, which is a contrast to Beth, who dealt with things using alcohol and cigarettes. I’m curious to see how Michelle Pfeiffer’s character will respond to this new approach, and whether we’ll see much of Will Arnett’s character once Stacy moves the family to Montana.

Taylor Sheridan’s expanding Yellowstone universe is packed for March. Before the new series The Madison streams, Luke Grimes and Breckin Merrill will be back as Kayce and Tate Dutton in Marshals, a more action-packed drama that may see the character of Monica Dutton exit the story. Then, Kelly Reilly will reprise her role as Beth Dutton with Cole Hauser in a spinoff currently known as Dutton Ranch. Ian Bohen, a Yellowstone alum, is also returning for Season 2 of Lioness, and fans hope this won’t prevent his character, Ryan, from appearing in future spinoffs.

The Madison will make its long-awaited debut on Paramount+ starting Saturday, March 14.
