First Look at the New ‘Golden Bachelorette’ Has Joan Warning Her Family, ‘I’m Going to Probably Kiss a Fair Amount of Guys on TV’

As a fervent admirer of reality television, I have been captivated by the resilience and determination of Joan Vassos, the first leading lady of ABC’s “The Golden Bachelorette.” Her journey is not just about finding love; it’s a testament to her strength, courage, and unwavering devotion to her family.

In the initial glimpse of ABC’s “The Golden Bachelorette,” Joan Vassos, the show’s star, shares her preference for a man who exhibits gentlemanly behavior, humility, and a large heart, as well as generosity. The promo video captures Joan preparing a meal with her loved ones and enjoying dinner together, expressing her deep appreciation for their backing throughout the production of the show.

In the video, Vassos expressed that she’s not taking dad’s place, but rather, she yearns for our family to be united once more.

In May 2024, Vassos, a 61-year-old woman from Rockville, MD, was announced as the leading lady of the series following her participation in “The Golden Bachelor’s” inaugural season in September 2023. A mother of four and grandmother of two, she had been widowed after a long marriage of 32 years.

When Ally, her daughter, queries about Vassos’ feelings towards kissing someone other than her deceased spouse on television, Vassos indicated she might need to grow accustomed to the situation.

“During the reality dating show, I’ll likely kiss several guys on camera. I apologize in advance to the gentlemen.”

Current Season 21 of “The Bachelorette” featuring Jenn Tran is currently being broadcast. Every Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, new episodes go live. If you miss an episode, simply catch up on Hulu the next day.

1. “The ‘Bachelor’ series is jointly produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television and Warner Horizon, with Claire Freeland, Jason Ehrlich, Bennett Graebner, and Andrew Frank serving as executive producers.”
