First Assassin’s Creed Shadows mods are here. One even removes ‘silly effects’

It appears that Assassin’s Creed Shadows might not be as disappointing as some people thought initially. Critics and players’ early reviews, including ours for a comprehensive analysis, indicate that it remains an enjoyable entry in the Assassin’s Creed series. While there were some launch issues such as problems with Ubisoft Connect, audio glitches, and a locked 30 FPS for cutscenes, the overall reception has been largely positive. Additionally, less than a day after its release, many mods have already surfaced for those who enjoy customizing their gaming experience.

Making AC Shadows better one mod at a time

The modding community remains vibrant, leading to an ongoing increase in the variety of AC Shadows modifications. You’ll find the standard adjustments such as optimization, HDR corrections, skipping the introduction, and hiding the HUD, but there are also some intriguing new ones emerging.

  1. High Graphical Fidelity Ghost of Tsushima Reshade, and as the description puts it, ‘Fixes the dumb greyness of the vanilla game and made it look more like Ghost of Tsushima.’ So now you can finally experience AC Shadows in the most vibrant colors possible.
  2. Simple Realistic mod makes nights darker and days brighter – because hey, why not?
  3. And the wildest one of them all – Remove Silly Effects.

This mod, known as Remove Silly Effects, eliminates visual elements like the white stealth outline, glowing armor on injured opponents, sword trails, and shimmering loot to create a more realistic gaming experience. The developer, X35129, is currently focusing on further refining the game by taking away other distracting indicators that apparently detract from the immersion.

To put it frankly, I can see why some folks might find these elements unobtrusive, but for others, including myself, excessive markers and effects can become quite bothersome. Rather than simply voicing discontent, someone took the initiative to address this issue.
