Warning! SPOILERS about Fire Country season 3, episode 20 ahead.
In the final episodes of Season 3, the Zabel Ridge fire towers ominously, though it’s not the sole focus due to Finn’s actions in Edgewater endangering Gabriela. His fear and flight led to a troublesome filling station fire. However, the dramatic conclusion of Season 3, Episode 19 emphasizes the true danger of the Zabel Ridge fire, as the escaping embers threaten Buena Vista, suggesting a dire future for the Leones. This grim outlook could pave the way for the return of an original character in Season 4.
The series of unfortunate incidents in Fire Country’s third season, marked by Bode’s persistent disobedience, set the stage for a challenging choice made by Vince and Sharon: entering the Buena Vista building without adequate gear to rescue Bode and Walter. Their decision ultimately saved everyone, but it also allowed for the dramatic cliffhanger ending of season 3. Unfortunately, it appears that Billy Burke’s character, Vince, will not return for Fire Country’s fourth season (according to Deadline), which significantly increases the likelihood that the season 3 cliffhanger may lead to Vince’s demise. However, this could potentially pave the way for the return of an original Fire Country character.
Luke Leone Needs To Return To Edgewater For Walter & Vince In Fire Country Season 4
Luke Moved To Japan In Fire Country Season 3
In light of Vince’s potential passing and Walter being implicated in the Buena Vista building roof collapse, it makes perfect sense for Luke Leone to come back. Known for his occasional appearances in Fire Country, where he tends to stir up trouble more than not, Luke Leone is also a significant aid to the Leones. He selflessly donated one of his kidneys to Sharon during season 1 of Fire Country and played a crucial role in helping Bode secure a spot in the Cal Fire training program after Vince’s plea in the finale of season 2.
In Fire Country’s third season, Sharon resuming her role as division chief left Luke, who had been serving as her interim replacement, jobless. It was during the Leone fishing trip where Bode discovered something amiss with Walter, that Luke revealed his decision to move overseas. Although Luke made an appearance in Fire Country’s third season, episode 13, he was absent by the end of the third season, as Walter mentioned his son being abroad in the third season, episode 17. With the Leone family grappling with the repercussions of the climactic events in Fire Country’s third season finale, it seems that Luke will have to return to Edgewater.
Luke’s Affinity To Chaos Can Make The Leone Tragedy Aftermath Even Worse
Luke Created Trouble In Fire Country Seasons 1 & 2
In season 4 of “Fire Country,” Luke’s return could exacerbate an already tense situation following the Leone tragedy. Although “Fire Country” initially portrayed Luke as a character with good intentions, it also hinted at his inclination towards turmoil. The initial glimpse of Luke in season 1, episode 5, showed him comforting Vince during the aftermath of Riley’s death and suggesting that Vince share anything he wanted to tell Bode with him, to protect his nephew. Soon afterward, Luke made an advance on Sharon, misunderstanding her emotions as romantic interest in him instead of venting.
If it’s true that Vince meets his end in Fire Country season 4, the aftermath will likely be filled with intense emotions, making it a challenging time for Luke to reappear. Given Luke’s habit of delivering messages in the most disheartening manner (as seen when he essentially told Vince it was his turn to look after Walter during the Leone fishing trip in Fire Country season 3), his presence during this sensitive period could have unpredictable consequences, regardless of whether he brings good or bad tidings.
How Luke’s Return From Japan Can Be Good News For Bode In Fire Country Season 4
Luke Was Extremely Helpful For Bode In Fire Country Season 3, Episode 13
Despite frequent disagreements and strife in Luke’s relationships with Vince and Sharon, his connection with Bode was mostly free of major disputes. While they often came close to arguments, especially when it emerged in the second season of “Fire Country” that Luke suggested closing Three Rock, the exchanges between Bode and his uncle were predominantly positive. Not only did Luke shield Bode from Vince’s wrath following Riley’s death, but he also acknowledged the unique bond between Bode and Gabriela in the third season of “Fire Country,” reaching out to Gabriela to inquire about Bode’s well-being within Cal Fire.
Instead of waiting for Bode to approach him later, as Vince and Sharon had planned when they saw Bode struggling with his first patient as a Cal Fire firefighter, Luke stepped in immediately when he noticed that Bode was about to respond to Coach Kimbro’s teasing. It’s not entirely clear why Luke began to look out for Bode, but it could have been because of Bode’s position as the family’s black sheep, a role with which Luke could relate. Regardless, Luke provided Bode with support, and their unique bond may be crucial in helping Bode recover, possibly even preventing his downfall during Fire Country‘s fourth season.
