Finn Wolfhard Says He Was ‘Happy’ But Also ‘Very Confused and Sad’ By His ‘Stranger Things’ Ending: ‘I Felt Like I Was In A Dream’

Over a span of almost ten years, Finn Wolfhard has grown up on the set of “Stranger Things,” and he harbors mixed feelings about the show’s (and his character’s) conclusion. The actor who portrays series lead Mike Wheeler since November 2015 shared with People that it was challenging to manage various emotions while filming the final episodes.

He expressed his feelings about the ending, stating that he was both content and satisfied, yet puzzled and saddened, but also extremely joyful. As Wolfhard put it, filming the finale was an intense experience. He felt as if he was in a dream or a surreal state, where everything seemed unreal. He added that it all felt flawless.

Wolfhard commented on his feelings towards the ending, explaining that while he was pleased and content, there was also a sense of confusion and sadness, but also immense joy. In other words, he felt both satisfied and unsure, happy and melancholic. When it came to filming the finale, Wolfhard described it as an intense, dreamlike experience where everything seemed unreal. He concluded by saying that it all felt perfectly executed.

At thirteen years old, Wolfhard became a part of the series, and over the course of every season, we’ve watched him mature alongside his fellow cast members Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Sadie Sink as they all grew up on screen.

After being part of the show for almost his entire life, Wolfhard confessed that it felt unreal when he first learned that the popular Netflix series was ending: “I just couldn’t wrap my head around it at all,” he shared. “It didn’t truly feel real until the following day. It was like a lingering emotional aftermath, but everything ended on a high note and I have only good things to say about everyone involved.

Ross and Matt Duffer, the joint architects and top producers of “Stranger Things”, hinted at the fifth and concluding installment during a Netflix gathering in early January. They shared that they’ve filmed this season for an entire year, accumulating over 650 hours of footage, indicating that it’s their most extensive and challenging production to date. In essence, they described it as being equivalent to eight major motion pictures.
