The initial trailer for “Andor” confidently showcases the swagger of a producer who believes he’s crafting the finest series on Disney+. In this extended sneak peek at seasons two and three, masterminded by Tony Gilroy, Diego Luna’s character asks, “Are we fighting or are we winning?” Regardless of the response, there’s plenty of conflict in this teaser as Cassian Andor and the Rebel Alliance battle the Empire. The action includes explosions, high-speed dogfights between TIE fighters and starfighters, a brief glimpse of the Death Star, and an unexpected dance sequence featuring Mon Mothma, all synchronized to Steve Earle’s “The Revolution Starts Now,” a fresh twist on traditional Star Wars music.
Beginning April 22 on Disney+, the fresh season of Andor will kick off with a three-episode introduction. Over the following four weeks, new episodes will be released in sets of three, allowing fans to enjoy each installment while still avoiding a 12-week wait between viewings for a rewatch of Rogue One, which serves as a prequel to Andor. The returning cast for season two includes Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Forest Whitaker, Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, and Denise Gough. This season also welcomes Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk to the cast as they reprise their roles from Rogue One as Orson Krennic and droid K-2SO, respectively. Lastly, it is worth noting that composer Nicholas Britell may provide us with a revival of “Niamos! (Morlana Club Mix)” and potentially a follow-up piece as well.
