Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) Crashes on PC and PS5, Square Enix Is not the Luckiest Company

As a dedicated fan of the Final Fantasy series who has waited years for some installments and even bought consoles just to play them, I must say that this latest release of FF16 on PC and PS5 is a bittersweet experience. On one hand, it’s exciting to finally dive into the world of Valisthea; on the other, the frequent crashes are like unexpected Clive Rosfield ambushes in the middle of my adventure.

Final Fantasy franchise enjoys immense global popularity, with each installment receiving warm receptions and high ratings from fans. Many gamers purchase a PlayStation specifically for these games, including some I know personally. Consequently, the launch of Final Fantasy XVI on PS5 was highly anticipated. A year after its initial release, PC players can now experience this title as well. However, Square Enix, despite its success, has encountered issues with both platforms – computers and consoles – experiencing crashes.

Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) Crashes on PC and PS5

Just now, FF16 became available for PC download, and as some players begin their gameplay, the initial group are encountering issues such as crashes. It appears these problems start during the shader compilation process. Fortunately, a simple solution exists – just restart the game and attempt to play again (you may need to do this several times). Although it’s not overly complex, what matters is that it resolves the problem. Additionally, developers have warned on Steam that certain AMD graphics cards might face difficulties. To address this issue, ensure you update your graphics card drivers accordingly.

After a year since its launch, I’m still encountering troubles with Final Fantasy XVI on my PlayStation 5. The game crashes unexpectedly, and I’ve noticed it coincides with the recent system updates. Many players are experiencing similar glitches, leading us to suspect they might be related to those updates. It appears that the problems started cropping up around that time.

Hopefully, all problems will be fixed soon, and we all will be able to enjoy Final Fantasy XVI.
