To celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary, Square Enix is releasing a new version featuring the beloved music from the original.
Okay, so Final Fantasy X was a total game-changer when it came out. It was the first one where they really weren’t held back by the old CD limitations, meaning they could finally add full voice acting and the music sounded incredible – seriously, the best it had ever sounded in a Final Fantasy game. And now, to celebrate how amazing it still is, Square Enix is releasing a special 25th Anniversary vinyl record of the soundtrack, which is awesome!
Final Fantasy X 25th Anniversary Record Announced
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 10 in 2026, Square Enix is releasing special commemorative items. The newest announcement is the FINAL FANTASY X LP Vinyl Set -Eternal Calm- which features two vinyl records, each containing 10 songs from the game, spread across both sides.
The FINAL FANTASY X LP Vinyl Set -Eternal Calm- will be released on July 1, 2026. The vinyl features new artwork of Tidus and Yuna on the sleeve. Buyers will also get a code to download the official soundtrack. A special Mega Jacket will be included with the version sold on Amazon Japan.
Square Enix recently announced a new vinyl record celebrating an anniversary, and the promotional image features Yuna and Tidus. However, the company notes this is just a sample image and the final product could look different. Though vinyl collectors will likely be excited, some fans of Final Fantasy might find it isn’t quite what they were hoping for.
Will Final Fantasy X Get the Remake Treatment?
Square Enix often celebrates the anniversaries of its popular Final Fantasy games, but fans are often frustrated because these celebrations usually just lead to merchandise sales. Currently, there’s no news about…
A remake of Final Fantasy X is likely in the works, but it seems other games will be remade sooner. Final Fantasy VII is reportedly stuck in development issues, and Final Fantasy VIII – another well-loved game from that time – could also benefit from being updated with modern graphics and gameplay.
A full remake of Final Fantasy 10 faces a unique challenge: the game and its sequel already received HD remasters that made them look quite good even on today’s screens. This could discourage a complete remake, despite strong fan demand for a replayable version of the classic.
Given the unresolved ending of Final Fantasy X -Will, an audio drama that follows the events of Final Fantasy X-2, another sequel to Final Fantasy X would be welcome. Although fans could choose to skip Final Fantasy X -Will, Square Enix could build a new game set in the world of Spira using it as a starting point, and capitalize on the cliffhanger.
