As a dedicated fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate world of Final Fantasy 7, I can wholeheartedly understand the anticipation for more content from Rebirth. However, upon hearing Naoki Hamaguchi’s reasoning behind no DLC plans, my excitement for the next chapter outweighs any disappointment.

Final Fantasy 7 Reborn, one of the most anticipated games in 2024, has proven to be a blockbuster hit, earning numerous nominations at this year’s The Game Awards. As we eagerly await the second part of this epic remake trilogy, fans have been wondering if any DLC is on the horizon. However, the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, has revealed that there are currently no plans for expansions related to Reborn – a decision that’s reassuring due to a compelling reason.

As a gaming enthusiast, I recently chatted with The Daily Star about everything related to Final Fantasy. Hamaguchi shared that we haven’t got any plans brewing at the moment because he and his team are pouring all our energy into releasing Part 3, which is still unnamed, as swiftly as possible.

Hamaguchi stated, “We certainly pick up on the enthusiasm from our audience, the clamor for more content they express. I wholeheartedly agree with their sentiments, but from my point of view, I believe what they yearn for most is not additional content like DLC. Instead, they’re eagerly waiting for the next installment in the series to arrive as soon as possible.

Given that the initial installment of the trilogy debuted on PS4 in 2020, accompanied by a DLC focusing on Yuffie as a playable character, titled “Intermission” a year later – some fans might assume this as a pattern since these games are so expansive. This DLC was subsequently integrated into the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and renamed “Intergrade”.

He explained that they won’t be working on more DLC episodes right now because their main priority is releasing the third game as soon as possible. For the moment, all their time and energy are being directed towards this goal. Once Chapter 3 is out, they might explore other stories in greater depth.
