2024 Emmy Predictions:
Outstanding Drama Series
As a long-time television enthusiast and someone who has spent countless hours engrossed in various shows, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of anticipation and excitement for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. The eloquence and artistry that goes into creating these captivating stories and characters never ceases to amaze me.
In its Weekly Commentary published on July 9, 2024, it’s predicted that FX’s “Shōgun” will not only secure a fourth drama nomination for the top category but also rank amongst the top three contenders due to its exceptional performance.
The question is, what other shows will join the lineup? Disney’s “Ahsoka,” which received decent reviews from critics, could get a bump from the Television Academy’s artisan peer groups and be a surprise inclusion at the expense of something such as Prime Video’s “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” or Showtime’s “The Curse.”
As a huge fan of both “Succession” and “The Crown,” I was thrilled to learn that the final season of HBO’s hit show took home an Emmy award for drama. However, I was surprised to find out that only one of its competitors from the lineup – Netflix’s “The Crown” – also made it within the eligibility window.
With a smaller number of entries, the most prominent shows might stand out more, or some unexpected contenders could be overlooked. Which ones will ultimately be selected?
As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the nominations round voting is now open from the 13th of June and will close on the 24th at 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time. For those in peer groups (if applicable), the top ten round panels voting will take place between the 28th of June and the 8th of July. The much-anticipated Emmy nominations will then be announced on the 17th of July. The Creative Arts and Governors Gala ceremonies are scheduled for two consecutive nights on September 7-8. Lastly, mark your calendars for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards airing live on ABC on the 15th of September.

The fourth season of this acclaimed show was helmed by Jesse Armstrong, Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Mark Mylod, Jane Tranter, Tony Roche, Scott Ferguson, Jon Brown, and Lucy Prebble, who all served as executive producers.
