Filmax Acquires ‘Jasmine & Jambo’ Animated Musical Film Set for 2026 Release

A Barcelona studio named Filmax has acquired distribution rights for the anticipated animated musical film “Jasmine & Jambo,” which is a spin-off from one of the most successful recent Catalan TV series in animation. The first two seasons of this show won Quirino Awards for best animation in 2023 and 2024.

In addition to producing the animated feature film, Filmax will manage its distribution within Spain. This agreement was announced prior to the 40th MIFA Market at Annecy, held from June 10-13. At this year’s Annecy, the leading animation festival globally, Filmax plans to showcase a promotional sales pitch to potential clients, which includes a melancholic one-man band musical performance by Jambo. Additionally, Filmax will participate in Madrid’s ECAM Forum.

The movie has entered its complete production phase and is scheduled for release in Spanish theaters in the year 2026, with Filmax as the distributor.

Dandelooo’s international sales have experienced a surge, with the series being acquired by numerous key territories such as France, Canada, Sweden, United States, Portugal, Argentina (Pakapaka), Brazil, UAE, and Chile. Notably, it has struck a substantial deal with France Télévisions. The show has also been translated into over ten different languages.

Created by Teidees Audiovisuals in partnership with public broadcaster 3Cat, “Jasmine & Jambo” features the returning duo: young protagonist Jasmine and her faithful elephant companion, Jambo. The series is helmed by director Silvia Cortés and producer Marta Alonso, both founders of Teidees Audiovisuals. This season delves into fresh themes, promising to recreate the successful blend of friendship, music, and emotional depth, while utilizing a vibrant color scheme that draws inspiration from the softer hues found in nature.

As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I found myself immersed in a captivating tale where I, too, felt the melody of life had shattered after losing my loved ones. A cryptic symphony of notes guided me towards Soundland, a utopia where music reigns supreme. Its protector, Jambo, was grappling with an age-related turmoil. Here, not only did I mend the rhythm of life’s harmony, but I also managed to find solace for my sorrow.

The movie “uncovers profound truths about music, topics seldom discussed before,” said Cortes, describing the animated production as a “timeless adventure” that “stimulates our senses and emotions” and serves a universal goal: to preserve music. In essence, “Jasmine & Jambo” is a tale of friendship, guiding us on an aesthetic, melodic, and emotional voyage, she concluded.

The movie showcases a variety of accents, whether it’s in the initial release or the overseas adaptations.

Iván Díaz, head of Filmax international, praised this movie as exceptionally unique among recent presentations. He found the story heartwarming, evocative, and vibrant, while the quality of its soundtrack was particularly impressive to him. He noted that the film’s emotional aspects, which explore themes like the grief of losing a loved one, carry a profound impact, resonating with viewers of all ages. Furthermore, he described the animation style as unconventional yet irresistibly endearing.

The show “Jasmine & Jambo” was well-received, receiving an honorable mention alongside top global series at the Festival Écran Jeunesse and earning a nomination for the esteemed Prix Jeunesse International’s Quality in Children’s TV Worldwide award.
