FBI Star Alana De La Garza Discusses Isobel’s New Role

In an upcoming episode of FBI, Isobel (Alana De La Garza) is preparing for a significant change, and her decisions could have a major impact on what happens with the team next.

The recent FBI episode, “Fadeaway,” showed Isobel preparing for a promotion to Assistant Director in Charge. This opportunity became available after she returned to work following a dangerous situation last season. Before she can start her new role, though, she must select a new leader for the team – the Special Agent in Charge.

In an interview with TV Insider, De La Garza explained that her character rightfully earned her recent promotion. Isobel has worked incredibly hard for years, and this recognition is long overdue. After a difficult season, this change will be a positive step for her.

Her appointment as ADIC is well-deserved recognition of her years of hard work and commitment. Isobel has been considering her future recently, and this new role provides a valuable opportunity to evaluate her next career moves within the bureau.

When Isobel was first considered for a new job during season 8 of FBI, her boss, ADIC Ropac, asked her to find someone to take her place. She initially thought Jubal would be a good fit, but Ropac didn’t agree. He worried that putting Jubal in charge would create difficulties. Despite Jubal helping cover her duties while she was recovering, leadership believed he was more valuable staying in his existing position.

When asked about her character’s actions, De La Garza explained that Isobel will ultimately prioritize what’s best for her team. Because of this, she expects Isobel to advocate for Jubal, as she genuinely believes he’s qualified. However, she understands why those in charge might hesitate to promote him.

Isobel consistently does what she believes is best for everyone involved. She likely only suggested Jubal for the position because she thought he was qualified, but she also seemed to realize he might face an uphill battle due to his past issues with suspensions and conflicts.

She needs a dedicated and resilient person who will always prioritize what’s best for the bureau, even when things get difficult.

FBI releases new episodes on Mondays at 9:00 PM ET and 6:00 PM PT on CBS.
