Remedy Entertainment has established its reputation through captivating single-player games and intricate narratives, but they are now venturing into uncharted territory with FBC: Firebreak. Building upon the supernatural gunplay from Control, this time the action will be presented in a first-person perspective. What sets it apart is that it’s a cooperative shooter, specifically designed for tight-knit three-player teams. Additionally, it aims to enrich the world and story of Control even further.
In a pioneering move, Remedy has created the first multiplayer game in their repertoire, also marking it as their inaugural self-published title. Over the coming weeks, anticipation builds with more details to be unveiled prior to its release. For now, here’s what we know about Firebreak: Firebreak, Remedy’s latest project.
When will FBC: Firebreak be released?
Firebreak, initially teased back in October 2024 during the Xbox Partner Preview, will officially launch on June 17, 2025. While it was referred to for years prior as a multiplayer game under the codename “Condor,” Remedy has been discussing it for quite some time.

FBC: Firebreak file size and PC requirements
Firebreak’s file size and PC specifications have not been disclosed by Remedy as of now. Yet, they’ve hinted that the system requirements for this multiplayer game will be lower compared to their standard games, making it accessible to a larger number of players.
FBC: Firebreak story, setting, and characters
In simpler terms, Firebreak belongs to Remedy Entertainment’s extensive interconnected storyline, encompassing many of their games such as Alan Wake, Alan Wake 2, and Control. However, Firebreak shares a closer narrative tie with Control, happening six years after the events depicted in that game.
Players assume the character of Jesse Faden, who becomes head of the Federal Bureau of Control, a role that requires her to battle an otherworldly force called The Hiss. Over the past five years, the Bureau’s headquarters, known as The Oldest House, has been under relentless attack by this mysterious entity.
Currently, a flexible trio known as Firebreak is on the brink of action, working tirelessly to reclaim The Oldest House.
FBC: Firebreak gameplay
As a passionate gamer, I must say that Firebreak, unlike Remedy’s usual story-driven titles, is all about the multiplayer experience. In this cooperative shooter, we band together in teams of three, tackling “Jobs.” These Jobs pit us against The Hiss, requiring us to complete unique challenges, optional objectives, and more, making each gameplay session exciting and unpredictable.
Firebreak can be played either solo or in duos, but its creators, Remedy, emphasize that it’s intended as a game for three players. Before jumping into battles, players get to tailor their Crisis Kit, picking from various tools, grenades, support items, and supernatural gadgets to take into the fray. As players progress in different roles, they’ll earn levels and gain access to more devices and customization options for their loadouts.
However, it seems that Firebreak truly thrives on the quirks inherent in Control, as each job presents a distinct twist or challenge. For instance, The Paper Chase job transports you into an area saturated with peculiar supernatural sticky notes, which can conjure monstrous paper entities out of nothingness and obstruct player’s vision by adhering to their helmets.
In other words, while it’s impossible for your team to fail objectives in Firebreak, the game emphasizes efficiency and speedy completion to maximize rewards. Procrastinating on completing an objective may lead to increased encounters with the Hiss, potentially resulting in your demise along with your comrades.
The impact of control is evident in the assortment of weapons and equipment at your disposal. As an illustration, one item is a piggy bank connected to a staff which you can use to strike opponents, resulting in a destructive whirlwind of coins following the attack.
After the game’s release, Remedy plans to offer additional playable content and jobs for free to all players. While cosmetic items will be available for purchase, there won’t be any time-limited item rotations or daily login bonuses.
