FBC: Firebreak Includes All These Changes For Launch, Including “Radically More Powerful” Weapons

Based on the latest private testing of Firebreak, game director Mike Kayatta from Remedy has disclosed several modifications the team is implementing in the game in response to player feedback.

Kyatta announced that Remedy has received substantial constructive feedback regarding the weapon balance in Firebreak, leading to significant alterations. Specifically, it was recognized that the early levels of gun power felt too weak, so the initial guns will now be drastically enhanced. Other parts of the game will also undergo adjustments to preserve the overall challenge level.

Kyatta noted that players have expressed concerns about the double-barrel shotgun not fitting well with their playstyle, and the studio concurs, so they’re making adjustments to ensure it aligns with its intended shooting style. Additionally, the developer shared that all aspects related to combat intensity and difficulty levels have been revamped. This includes linking various enemy types to different threat levels, modifying wave frequency and composition, and eliminating unnecessary pauses in the action, according to Kyatta.

Kyatta announced that Remedy has incorporated “dynamically generated tutorials” into the game to ensure a defined route for players, but still allowing them to explore alternative methods.

Furthermore, Kyatta pointed out that the “visual clarity” of FBC wasn’t quite satisfactory. When visual chaos hinders players from making significant decisions based on their gaming experience, it ceases to be enjoyable. With this consideration, Remedy is devoting time to streamlining and reducing numerous effects in the game, both visually on-screen and within the game world.

Additionally, Kyatta mentioned that during initial testing, the overall game sound was found to be too low. Now, the team is working on the final audio adjustments for the game, aiming to rectify this problem.

Ultimately, Kyatta explained that Remedy is still focusing on “optimizing performance” for PC versions. This is why they haven’t disclosed the minimum and suggested PC requirements just yet. They assured us that they will reveal the results once they are certain about them.

There’s plenty more work ahead to ensure the launch is top-notch, but everyone’s spirits are high about our current progress,” he said in summary.

The FBC (Fictional Battle Cruiser) game is set to debut on June 17th. On this very day, it will be available as a launch title for both Game Pass and PlayStation Plus subscribers. If you prefer not to subscribe, you can buy the game outright for $40 on consoles and PC platforms.
