I have always been deeply moved by stories of courage and resilience, especially those that come from individuals who have faced unimaginable tragedy. The work of OneFamily organization, as recounted in this article, resonates with me on a profound level.
I’ve had the privilege of working with OneFamily for the past 23 years. During this time, we’ve offered vital support, rehabilitation, and rebuilding services to those affected by terror attacks, as well as their dear ones and communities.
Amid increasing turmoil in the Middle East, the founders of the organization are making their way to Hollywood for the “Responsible Storytelling” event by OneFamily. This event will be overseen by Andrew Wallenstein, president and media expert at EbMaster Intelligence Platform. On July 25, he will lead a discussion with Lior Raz, both the creator and star of the popular series “Fauda.”
I’m committed to making a difference for victims of terror attacks, just like OneFamily’s founders stress. When tragedy strikes and someone is killed or injured, I want to be there to offer support, regardless of their religion. OneFamily serves as a one-stop shop for assistance.
“Following her action, my wife and I exchanged glances and expressed, ‘We should commit ourselves fully to helping all terror victims.'”
With an initial investment of $100,000 from their finance businesses, the couple has since then amassed over $80 million in resources for OneFamily. Chantal attributes the organization’s enduring success to its active engagement: “We don’t simply wait for people to contact us,” she says. “Instead, we take the initiative and reassure them, ‘From now on, you have our full support.'”
Instead of following a uniform approach for those requiring assistance, as is the case with most government programs, OneFamily offers a range of customized services. These solutions cater to individual needs, encompassing financial aid and mental health counseling among others. As Chantal points out, “People deal with loss in so many different ways.” Marc further underscores their unique approach by referring to it as “peer-to-peer healing,” highlighting the importance of personal connections between OneFamily’s regional directors and those they help.
“I once heard social workers and psychologists being advised to keep a professional distance from their patients. But in our line of work, we do things differently. We don’t believe in keeping a safe distance; instead, we tell our team to be there for the clients around the clock. No matter what time it is or what they might need us for, we’re always just a phone call away.”
During a tense period in Israel’s history, the Belzbergs based in Israel emphasize OneFamily’s unbiased assistance. Marc emphasizes, “Regardless of the situation, we remain impartial.” After serving individuals from diverse age groups, backgrounds, and communities, Chantal notes that their shared grief creates a unique bond. She explains, “At our gatherings with bereaved parents and widows, everyone is distinct. Yet, politics is never brought up in our discussions.”
Unbiased aid is now harder and pricier to offer than before, according to Marc. He explains, “Awareness leads to donations and draws more individuals to lend a hand.” Chantal agrees, adding, “Effective storytelling can prevent people from being overlooked entirely.”
