As a seasoned veteran of the Fate series, spanning over two decades and numerous iterations, I can hardly contain my excitement for the impending release of Fate/Extra Record! The announcement at FGO Fes 2024 has sent waves of anticipation through the community, and with Bandai Namco on board as the publisher, it’s clear that this remake is poised to reach a broader audience.
At the FGO Fes 2024 event, it was announced that Type-Moon’s upcoming game, Fate/Extra Record, will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam in the year 2025. Notably, Bandai Namco has been appointed as the remake’s new publisher, a change from its original release in Japan by Marvelous in 2010 (and Aksys Games for North America in 2011, and Ghostlight for Europe in 2012).
In 2020, on the 10th anniversary of Fate/Extra Record, the game was first unveiled. However, updates for the remake stopped after the last one in 2022, suggesting that Type-Moon moved their attention to Fate/Samurai Remnant. Now that the season pass DLC for Fate/Samurai Remnant is complete, the studio can resume work on Fate/Extra Record. This is supported by Studio BB releasing a new trailer recently. The remake is now expected to launch in 2025, which coincides with Fate/Extra’s 15th anniversary.
Previously, game trailers, including the latest sneak peek, were posted by Type-Moon Studio BB on their YouTube channel. However, with Bandai Namco announced as the publisher, the newest trailer is now available on Bandai Namco’s channel instead. You can watch it right below.
