Farming the Catalyst for this overlooked Destiny 2 Exotic should be your top priority

As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with over a thousand hours under my belt, I can confidently say that Salvation’s Grip has gone from being a forgotten relic to a game-changer in my arsenal. Before Lightfall, it was a meme weapon I’d occasionally pull out for a laugh. But now, it’s become an integral part of my loadout.

Through buffs and the inclusion of a Catalyst, an Exotic weapon from Destiny 2 Beyond Light is now useful instead of being stored away in your Vault.

Previously, before Bungie significantly revamped the exclusive Heavy Grenade Launcher known as Salvation’s Grip during Lightfall, it had earned only one distinction: a notoriously poor-performing Exotic that often leaned towards being a humorous inside joke among players.

Originally, the weapon had very specific applications, mainly serving as a jumping aid due to creating a Stasis crystal on command. However, with its upgrade in Lightfall, Salvation’s Grip transformed into a true combat weapon.

At present, the main Exotic ability of the launcher, called Cryocannon, discharges a scattering of Frost bolts when fully charged. These bolts create ice formations upon collision, facilitating the activation of its built-in effect, Shatter Shot.

Shatter Shot boosts the damage dealt to Stasis crystals and frozen enemies, and quickly refills your magazine when several crystals are shattered simultaneously.

How to get the Salvation’s Grip Catalyst

The Salvation’s Grip Catalyst may be obtained by finishing any type of Ritual Activity such as Gambit, Crucible, or Vanguard Operations. When you use it, it will bestow the Rimestealer perk.

As a gamer, each time I score a kill using the Catalyst weapon, it piles on a layer of Frost Armor, maxing out at eight layers when I’ve got a Stasis subclass activated. This armor boosts my damage resistance by as much as 20%!

Considering all of the above, Salvation’s Grip is already an S-tier option for crowd control, with Episode Revenant’s synergistic artifact perks pushing it ever-so-close to overpowered.

1) The tempest known as Hail the Storm slows down enemies nearby after breaking crystal formations. On the other hand, when your Guardian’s health drops critically while wearing Armor of Eramis, it releases a chilling blast.

Enhancing the top part with Kinetic Blasts, functioning similarly to Kinetic Quakes for robust Grenade Launchers, adds an extra enticing DPS increase. Although dealing damage may not be the main function of Salvation’s Grip, its consistent ability to shatter makes it pack a stronger punch than you might assume.
