Fantastic Four: First Steps Blu-ray features missing Mole Man scene

Details about the deleted scenes on the Fantastic Four: First Steps Blu-ray are out, and it appears there’s extra footage featuring the Mole Man.

Fantastic Four: First Steps was Marvel’s most successful movie of the year, earning $519 million worldwide. This outperformed other Marvel films like Thunderbolts* ($382 million) and Captain America: Brave New World ($415 million).

The main cast of characters will appear in *Avengers: Doomsday* in 2026 and *Avengers: Secret Wars* in 2027.

If you’re eager for more Fantastic Four content before the next installment, the team is releasing their first Blu-ray edition in October. These discs will be loaded with extras and appear to include a deleted scene featuring the Mole Man.

Fantastic Four deleted scene set in Subterranea

On October 14th, Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Entertainment Weekly has revealed that the release will include several scenes that were cut from the final movie.

  • Fantastic Four Day
  • Subterranea
  • Birthday Sweater
  • Taking Turns

We were particularly drawn to the ‘Subterranea’ scenes, since that’s where Mole Man appears. Paul Walter Hauser is fantastic in the role, and we felt he didn’t get enough screen time in the initial episodes of ‘First Steps’.

The next shot could show more of Mole Man’s followers underground, or focus on what happens when surface dwellers enter his subterranean world.

However, a scene that writer Eric Pearson mentioned regrettably being cut might finally be included now.

So, apparently there were a bunch of scenes with Mole Man that didn’t make the final cut. I heard from Pearson that there was this whole scene with Sue where she tried to reason with him, like, have a diplomatic chat. He said it was really fun and hilarious to film, which makes me bummed we didn’t get to see it!

Making movies is complicated. You can have fantastic moments that just don’t quite fit the overall story. But I insisted we move forward and allow the character to fully invade Reed’s space and interact with all his belongings.

This led to the funny moment where Mole Man walks into the Baxter Building. Writer Parson said he would have made the scene even more chaotic if he’d been directing, imagining Mole Man playfully interacting with everything like the character Baby Huey in *Roger Rabbit* – touching and messing with all the devices.

EW also reports that the Blu-ray will feature three featurettes:

  • From Beyond and Below: The team explores bringing complex characters from the page to the screen, including a larger-than-life Galactus, grounded Harvey Elder/Mole Man, and an emotionally rich Silver Surfer.

Fantastic Four: First Steps will be available digitally starting September 23, 2025, with a physical copy releasing on October 14th.
