Ghost of Yotei is officially a stunning game with a compelling revenge story, delivered in a high-quality, open-world format. Critics are raving about it – it currently has a 94% rating on OpenCritic, and we gave it a 9/10. Despite the widespread praise, one person pointed out that Red Dead Redemption 2 still excels in a particular area.
Ghost of Yotei and Red Dead Redemption 2 face off on ice
The scenery in *Ghost of Yotei*, especially the views of Mount Yotei, is stunning – some players even mistake the in-game mountain for the real thing! And playing the shamisen on a gloomy day really adds to the atmosphere. But there’s one detail that can pull you out of the experience: Atsu’s unbelievable ability to run across frozen lakes. I didn’t even notice it until I saw someone mention it online.

A user on X noticed a funny contrast between how characters walk on ice in *Ghost of Yotei* and *Red Dead Redemption 2*. In *Red Dead*, Arthur Morgan realistically slips and wobbles – he moves like a regular person on a slippery surface, especially when slowing down. But in *Ghost of Yotei*, the character Atsu seems completely unaffected by ice, almost defying gravity. Perhaps her determination for revenge gives her superhuman balance!
It really makes you wonder if games *need* to be perfectly realistic in every detail. Wouldn’t it be better to get truly excellent games more frequently – maybe every five years, like *Ghost of Tsushima* and the upcoming *Ghost of Yotei* – even if it means sacrificing some minor realistic features? That might be preferable to waiting thirteen years (or even longer if *GTA 6* is delayed) for a game with absolute realism.

As a long-time fan, I remember when new GTA games felt like they came out every other year – Vice City and San Andreas were only two years apart! But then we waited *eight* years for Red Dead Redemption 2 after the first one. So, while Rockstar really focuses on making everything perfect now, I think Sucker Punch deserves some appreciation for consistently delivering fantastic games without making us wait ages, even if some of the character movements in their games aren’t always super realistic.
