Family reunites with dog 8 years after it went missing in a hurricane

A pooch that got lost during Hurricane Harvey in 2017 was recently discovered more than 300 miles away from its home.

Blue, a two-year-old canine, went missing from her household in Corpus Christi, Texas, following the storm that left their fence in shambles. This information was shared by People.

In July 2025, Blue was discovered within a public restroom situated in Cameron Park, Waco, Texas.

I spotted a stray creature nearby, so I quickly reached out to local animal control. They took the little guy in and posted an update about him on Instagram, at the Pet Circle Regional Animal Shelter.

Eight years later, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I found out that Blue was safe, as I shared this news in a heartfelt post.

Identified through microchip

The team at the shelter used a microchip scan on Blue, which helped them trace her back to her first family. They had ensured that their contact details remained current.

The shelter coordinated a gathering at a convenient spot for the family and the person who discovered Blue, so they could exchange him there.

The touching reunification serves as proof that microchipping pets is essential. In this case, little Blue, who had been microchipped and her owner’s details were current, managed to return home after being separated for close to a decade.
