Fake Franchise Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion Becomes Actual Franchise With A Second Game

Originally marketed as a follow-up to an imaginary dinosaur mansion franchise, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 was merely a concept. However, developers Strange Scaffold and debutant Pedalboard Games are collaborating to create something resembling a sequel. This new game is actually a remastered version of the first game in this supposed series, which didn’t exist until now. The release date for this intriguing title is set for September.

In the game titled “Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 1: ReRaptored,” you’ll assume the role of Jack Briar, an ATF agent sent to Louisiana’s swamps to look into peculiar dinosaur activities. The game shares a resemblance with the initial CRDM3, released in April, but features a new main character. The original game was a narrative-driven match-3 metroidvania, meaning you would traverse various storylines and engage in match-3 battles to advance. This new version appears to be similar, as Jack Briar will acquire new abilities by exploring and utilize them to unlock paths. Notably, the original game offered a witty critique of the game development industry, so we can anticipate this theme to persist.

Initially, an unusual company named Strange Scaffold created a game, but now, a fresh studio called Pedalboard Games is working on ReRaptored. This event signals the launch of Strange Scaffold’s “Project Share” initiative, where they grant other studios access to their initial code and invite them to build upon their ideas. Xalavier Nelson Jr., from Strange Scaffold, expounded on the rationale behind this decision in a discussion on BlueSky.

He pointed out that unlike any medium other than music, video games have the unique ability to rearrange and alter basic components to generate entirely fresh, legitimate, and thrilling artistic expressions. This is evident in the modding community, but it’s less common in mainstream commercial video game production.

Under the supervision of original co-leader Colin McInerney, Strange Scaffold delivered the necessary tools to Pedalboard Games. This allowed the team at Pedalboard Games to swiftly develop and transform the project into a fresh game.

At Strange Scaffold, we don’t plan to frequently engage in Project Share, but by doing so occasionally and transparently, we aim to inspire other developers to explore unconventional ways of sharing resources, fostering collaboration, and ensuring game releases are faster, better quality, and more sustainable. This approach benefits everyone involved.

Today, you can grab Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 on Steam, and mark your calendars for September 23, as we’re releasing an updated version of Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 1: ReRaptored!
