As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen enough studio shuffles and restructurings to last a lifetime. But this latest twist from Playground Games has me raising an eyebrow, or should I say, a controller.
The creators of Forza Horizon racing series on Xbox, Playground Games, are currently working on their upcoming title Fable, planned for release in 2025 across Xbox consoles, PC, and Xbox Game Pass at launch. Notably, there’s been buzz as the team appears to have established a new studio in the UK.
The initial report by Wcctech unveiled that the details about the studio originate from their LinkedIn profile, but there’s a twist: Although their LinkedIn bio suggests the establishment of a new studio in Leamington Spa, this information seems absent from their main website.
According to Wcctech’s reports, there seems to be a discrepancy between the information on Playground’s LinkedIn page and its official website. The LinkedIn page states that Playground currently operates three world-class studios, one of which is located in Leamington Spa. However, their website only mentions the existence of two studios in Leamington Spa, suggesting that the opening of a third studio may not be reflected on the official website yet.

It’s still uncertain why Playground Games hasn’t disclosed information about a third studio; however, we do know what each of their two teams are currently developing. The team stationed at their original headquarters is responsible for continuing work and support on the Forza Horizon series, while the second team is actively engaged in creating the next Fable game, as stated on their official website.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m intrigued about the mystery that surrounds the third studio in Leamington Spa. Could they be cooking up something exciting? With a new studio on the block, only time will tell if they’ve assembled a dream team.
Speaking of Fable, the forthcoming action RPG was unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024. Although Playground Games or Xbox haven’t disclosed a release date yet, Eidos Montreal has announced that they are collaborating with the development team to assist them in the creation of this upcoming title.
