ExtraEmily gets second Twitch ban after streaming herself running red light while driving

On April 13, it was Twitch that imposed a ban on ExtraEmily for the second time, restricting her access to her main streaming account. The majority of her content is based on IRL (In Real Life) streams.

The cause behind the ban remains unclear at this moment, but it occurred within 24 hours following an instance where the popular Twitch personality was observed running a red light without stopping in Austin, Texas, on her live April 12 IRL broadcast.

While on air, Emily switched her dashboard camera’s angle to capture the road ahead. Shortly afterward, she ran a red light at an intersection that was visible in the footage.

Acknowledging she ran a red light to her viewers after coming to a stop, she said:

It’s quite common. Here in Austin, traffic lights can be quite lengthy, so I often choose to drive through them without stopping. Don’t worry, it’s generally acceptable for people to do so.

Emily switches her camera’s direction to broadcast herself driving through a red traffic signal, as the stoplights in this area are quite lengthy and she typically opts to proceed.

ExtraEmily banned on Twitch for second time

Currently, I’m uncertain about when my ban on Twitch might be lifted, but when I check out my profile, it says, “Sorry, this channel is temporarily offline because of a breach of Twitch’s community rules or terms of service.

On October 13th, 2023, Emily was temporarily suspended from Twitch for a duration of 18 hours. Five days after, she admitted that the timeout was imposed due to her using her phone whilst driving. Subsequently, she spoke about the matter saying:

I comprehend the reason for my ban, as it was due to using my phone while driving. This ban has served as a valuable lesson for me, and I’ve vowed to learn from it. From now on, I promise to avoid looking at my phone during streaming sessions.

If either Emily or Twitch provide explanations for the reason behind the ban on April 13, this article will be amended to incorporate those details.
