At long last, Oblivion Remastered has arrived, offering players an enhanced journey filled with the original quirks, issues, and cherished elements, plus a fresh coat of polish. Yet, one aspect is causing quite a stir among gamers, leading some to clamor for a fix, stating that “it requires immediate attention.
Contrary to widespread anticipation in the gaming community, The Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled on April 22, generating considerable excitement. Gamers, both old and new, were eager to revisit the widely acclaimed Elder Scrolls game to determine if its well-known glitches, inconsistent audio recordings, and peculiar Adoring Fan NPCs were still present. Fortunately, in most cases, they remain intact. However, there are also some fresh challenges associated with this journey.
At the outset, players are given the option to select a difficulty level, with many seasoned gamers opting for Expert mode. After all, if you’re intimately familiar with the game mechanics, especially intricate aspects such as lockpicking, why not test your skills further? However, for some, this supposed challenge turns out to be excessively difficult, bordering on impossible.
Oblivion Remastered players claim Expert difficulty is “broken”
On the Reddit forum dedicated to Oblivion Remastered, numerous gamers voiced their concern that the Expert difficulty level is excessively lethal, as they found it challenging to endure the Rat battle during the tutorial without suffering nearly fatal blows.
According to a player, they assert that the game is faulty, as it employs the original 20 levels of difficulty from Oblivion. To give some perspective, Skyrim’s toughest setting only deals x0.25 damage and takes x3 more damage. In contrast, the Master difficulty in the Oblivion Remaster sets the damage dealt at x0.2 and the damage taken at x5. This means that the game deals significantly less damage to you, but you will sustain much higher damage than what Skyrim presents as its hardest setting.
Many concurred, stating that “in Expert mode, everything feels like a soggy meat sponge, making it unenjoyable to confront. It’s so intellectually dull that the only practical way to overcome challenges on Expert is by utilizing followers, as they too act like sponges dealing proportionate damage.
As a gamer, I’m finding myself disheartened along with many others in the community, as we believe that the current state of play isn’t what it’s supposed to be. We sincerely hope they address this issue soon, as it seems excessively challenging and is not providing the enjoyable gaming experience we all anticipate.
It’s good to know that if Bethesda hasn’t fixed the Expert difficulty problem yet, a player suggests using a mod for PC gamers. This mod, called “Difficulty Sliders Fixed,” lets you adjust damage and damage taken to suit your gaming style, making the gameplay experience more tailored to you.
