The previous employee who took legal action against WWE, Vince McMahon (the former CEO), and John Laurinaitis (a former high-ranking executive), who she accused of sexual misconduct and trafficking, has come to an agreement with Laurinaitis. As a result, she dropped her allegations against him.
As a film enthusiast, I stumbled upon a piece of news today that caught my interest – Grant’s response to Laurinaitis’ claims, which was submitted on Wednesday and can be found here.
In a shared announcement made on Wednesday, representatives for John Laurinaitis and Grant confirmed that he would collaborate and supply evidence for Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and the WWE. This agreement to a confidential settlement is a crucial step towards making McMahon and the WWE accountable for their actions and delivering justice to Ms. Grant, who has suffered sexual abuse and trafficking over several years. Mr. Laurinaitis is eager to put this matter behind him and move forward with his life. At present, we cannot disclose any further details about the situation.
Representatives for McMahon and WWE did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In January 2024, a lawsuit was initiated by Grant’s legal representatives in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, listing McMahon, WWE, and Laurinaitis as the parties being sued.
As per the allegations in Grant’s lawsuit, McMahon and Laurinaitis, on company premises and utilizing company resources, are accused of committing sexual assault and human trafficking against Grant. This act was reportedly done not only for their personal gratification but also as a means to secure talent deals with potential wrestlers they were recruiting. The lawsuit claims that McMahon frequently used sex toys named after other WWE employees, performers, and wrestlers to manipulate and prepare Ms. Grant for trafficking to these very same individuals.
McMahon declared in January 2024 that “Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is filled with lies, fabricated stories that never took place, and a malicious twist of reality. I plan to strongly counter these unfounded allegations and am eager to establish the truth about my actions.
Last April, I learned about an investigation launched by the WWE board regarding misconduct accusations against McMahon and myself (Laurinaitis). In August, my employment with WWE came to an end. During this time, McMahon temporarily stepped down as CEO due to the ongoing WWE probe. Come January 2023, he re-joined WWE in the role of executive chairman to oversee the company’s sale endeavors. Later that year, we merged with UFC to form TKO Group.
The TKO Group, primarily controlled by the currently private Endeavor Group Holdings Inc., which is also known as the parent company of WME Group, saw Vince McMahon step down from its board in January 2024 following the initiation of Grant’s lawsuit.
