As a seasoned political observer with a unique insider perspective, I find Alyssa Farah Griffin‘s decision to vote for Kamala Harris truly remarkable. Having served under Donald Trump and being an ardent critic of his administration, her switch to backing a Democratic nominee speaks volumes about her conviction for the future of our nation.

As a former aide to Donald Trump at the White House, I made a personal choice this election that felt significant – I voted for Kamala Harris. This marks the first time in my life that I’ve supported a Democratic candidate for President of the United States. Throughout the election season, I’ve been vocal about my disagreements with Trump, even going so far as to label him as “the most perilous individual to have ever held the American presidency.

Exactly four years ago, I found myself in the White House alongside Donald Trump during the election night. At that moment, I felt he should have lost. I didn’t think he genuinely fought to win the election, and I hoped the following four years would see the Republican party rebuilding, transforming into a belief system I could embrace, and moving past Donald Trump. However, this hasn’t happened. Consequently, for the first time in my life, I cast my vote for a Democratic candidate this weekend on Saturday.

With the audience of “The View” and Griffin’s fellow hosts erupting in cheers, Griffin made it clear that she remains a Republican deep down, explaining that her vote was more like a loan given to Kamala.

Griffin expressed concern over where Donald Trump might lead the nation, and she heeds this concern herself. What’s needed, she believes, is a compassionate and unifying leader. While she may not concur with many of Kamala Harris’ policies yet, today it’s crucial to focus on what’s best for our future – that being Donald Trump loses and Kamala Harris wins the election.

Sarah Haines acknowledged Griffin’s bravery in openly disclosing her change in party affiliation to support Kamala, stating: “That takes a lot of courage from you, a lifelong Republican. To me, it’s not about voting for a Democrat but rather for democracy and the constitution. I salute your decision, as it was a tough one, and I admire your convictions.

Previously, Griffin was a member of Trump’s communication staff at the White House. However, she stepped down from this role in the year 2020. During the broadcast on November 4th, she publicly criticized Trump’s re-election bid on the television show “The View.

As a previous high-ranking advisor to Donald Trump with extensive knowledge of him, Griffin stated, ‘This is arguably the most crucial election we’ve ever faced because Trump is the most perilous individual to have occupied the American presidency. He must not be allowed to return.’

In the 2024 presidential election, it is clear that Griffin, along with Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Joy Behar, all cast their votes for Harris on “The View”.
