Discussions about a remastered version of Bloodborne have been widespread across various online and social media platforms. Many gamers are eager to re-explore Yharnam using contemporary hardware like the PlayStation 5, and notably, on PC. Hidetaka Miyazaki, from FromSoftware, spoke about the potential for a PS5/PC port of Bloodborne. He stated that while he’s not necessarily against it, if he were to pursue such a project, he might face some repercussions.
As a passionate gamer, I found it quite intriguing when Shuhei Yoshida, the former head of PlayStation, recently visited Kinda Funny Games. During his visit, he was asked about the possibility of a Bloodborne Remaster. In response, he shared his thoughts on why we haven’t seen one yet and expressed his personal feelings on whether such a project should be undertaken in the future.
Yoshida acknowledges that discussions about the potential Bloodborne Remaster have been heated for several years now. When asked if such a remaster might happen, he hinted at its complexity by saying, “Many people ask why we haven’t done anything… shouldn’t it be simple?

As a gamer, I can’t help but feel frustrated when we keep debating about Bloodborne’s remaster. Despite the promising moves made by PlayStation, like their approach to remasters as Yoshida pointed out, we haven’t seen any progress on this front. Games like Demon’s Souls, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, and Shadow of the Colossus have received remakes, but Bloodborne is still missing out. It’s high time this masterpiece got the remaster it truly deserves!
Later on, Yoshida clarified that a remaster of Bloodborne hasn’t been realized due to the overwhelming workload of Hidetaka Miyazaki at FromSoftware. As Elden Ring was developed and later expanded with Shadow of the Erdtree, Miyazaki-san has found himself extremely busy. Given his deep affection for Bloodborne, it is likely that he is interested in a remaster, but due to his success and heavy workload, he cannot personally handle it, and prefers not to entrust it to others.
Yoshida concluded his remarks by expressing that his thoughts on the Bloodborne Remaster are simply a hypothesis. Considering the remarkable performance of Elden Ring and its extension, Shadow of the Erdtree from FromSoftware, they unveiled Elden Ring Nightreign at The Game Awards 2024, implying they’ll be engrossed in their work for quite some time, thus it seems unlikely that a Bloodborne Remaster will be released immediately.
