EWC 2025 Week 1 Champions recap

The inaugural week of the Esports World Cup 2025 ended spectacularly with thrilling finals in Rennsport, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, VALORANT, and Apex Legends. As the second week begins, it’s an ideal opportunity to check the standings on the Club Championship leaderboard.

Among the top-ranked Club Championship contenders, it’s General Electricity and Gaming (Gen.G) that has the most title appearances, boasting 10 teams vying across various Esports World Cup events. This increased participation improves their chances of achieving a higher final ranking in the tournament as a whole.

Besides Teams like Redline and VK Gaming, several other groups are participating in a single tournament. This suggests that their positions might not sustain at the top of the Club Championship standings past the initial phase of competitions. Keep an eye out for the rankings next week to see how things unfold.

Club of the Week Award

Stepping into the Esports World Cup 2025, we, Team Redline, carried the mantle of reigning champions. Every rival team aimed to outrun us, but they couldn’t keep up. Our esteemed organization kept etching our victories onto the annals of history, crafting one of the first EWC dynasties.

Team Redline is the Club of the Week.

Player of the Week Award

In the EWC 25 finals of VALORANT, Team Heretics’ Mert “Wo0t” Alkan ignited a remarkable comeback after they were trailing 2-0. His stunning performances on Icebox (with an impressive 26 kills) and Haven breathed life into his team, reversing the situation and thwarting Fnatic’s bid for tournament victory.

Wo0t is this week’s Player of the Week.

Team Redline earns back-to-back trophies

On July 11th, Team Redline etched their names into history as they clinched the title of the first EWC 25 champions and simultaneously became the first team to win back-to-back Rennsport tournaments. They also claimed the 2024 edition’s trophy, adding another victory to their impressive record. The racing team demonstrated sheer dominance, conquering track after track, with notable victories over Porsche Coanda and Team Vitality before finally reaching the finish line.

As Luke Bennett from Team Redline, I’m stoked to have been named the Sony MVP! My consistent podium finishes earned me an extra cool $10,000, not bad, right? Plus, my team’s share of the $200,000 prize is just the icing on the cake. This win has added another impressive feather to Team Redline’s 20-year-old cap and boosted our legacy even more!

GO1 makes DetonatioN FocusMe proud

During EWC 25’s FATAL FURY: COTW grand final, GO1 Kishida skillfully represented DetonatioN FocusMe, facing off against Zeng “Xiaohai” Zhuojun’s Billy. GO1 walked away with a $300,000 prize and etched his name into the history books. Although many didn’t predict him to win at the start of the tournament, he silenced all doubters by blending his unique defensive strategy with his keen instinct to defeat Xiaohai.

Team Heretics rises together for epic reverse sweep

At EWC 2025, Team Heretics snatched the VALORANT trophy following a stunning reversal against Fnatic. The competition was grueling, with powerhouse teams like G2 and 100 Thieves being eliminated early. After finishing last at VCT Masters Toronto, Team Heretics sought redemption. Their in-game leader, Mert “Wo0t” Alkan, masterminded their resurgence during the finals, earning him the MVP title and an additional $10,000 in prize money.

VK Gaming goes from great to greatest

As a dedicated fan, I wrapped up the initial week of finals with VK Gaming emerging victorious at the ALGS Midseason Playoffs 2025 hosted by EWC. While Alliance, Team Falcons, and Ninjas in Pyjamas were tipped as the favorites, VK Gaming proved their resilience and consistency under pressure, setting them apart from the rest of the pack.

With this win, the team pocketed an impressive $600,000 and secured a place at the upcoming ALGS Championship in Sapporo. This triumph further highlighted the APAC South region as one that should not be underestimated. As the Sony MVP, Chen “QQ” Yin-hong also received a bonus of $10,000.

Over the coming days, numerous contests await us, forging new heroes as victors emerge and formidable opponents fall. Don’t miss the thrilling Esports World Cup 2025 – tune in live or explore ticket choices for an unforgettable in-person experience this very week!
