Everything New on Peacock in June 2025

This summer marks the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s iconic movie “Jaws”. To watch it online and join in the celebration, you will require a Peacock subscription as that’s where the film (along with its three, perhaps less acclaimed sequels) is exclusively available for streaming starting June.

Iconic Characters Who Made Cameos in Other Franchises

Kane (Alien) in Spaceballs

Since Spaceballs is a blend of various science fiction movies like Star Wars, it features an amusing nod to Alien towards the end. During a meal, the protagonists are alarmed when Nostromo crewmember Gilbert Kane (John Hurt) suddenly falls onto the table, followed by a baby xenomorph emerging from his chest. “Oh no,” he sighs, “not again!” Contrary to the original Alien, this xenomorph then puts on a straw hat and dances a lively ragtime dance out of the room instead of exiting in its usual terrifying manner.

Non-Disney Toons in Who Framed Roger Rabbit

In a fictional Hollywood setting, where humans share the city with beloved cartoon characters, the movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is set. To make this blend seem real, well-known animated characters from various studios make cameo appearances throughout the film. The idea of combining live action and animation was thought to revive the struggling Walt Disney Studios by its chairman, Jeffrey Katzenberg. He successfully persuaded several rival studios to allow their iconic cartoon characters to appear in the movie. These agreements sometimes included specific conditions such as having Donald Duck from Disney and Daffy Duck from Warner Bros. perform together as equally talented dueling pianists in a single scene.

T-1000 (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) in Wayne’s World

The essence of “Wayne’s World” lies in a whimsical overtone of exaggerated unrealism, where characters might break the fourth wall to comment on events or manipulate scenes according to their whims. On his motorcycle ride towards his rock musician sweetheart Cassandra, Wayne Campbell encounters a police officer on a bike who turns out to be Robert Patrick’s T-1000 character from “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”. As he takes off his helmet and sunglasses, revealing a photograph of a young boy he’s searching for, the officer is unveiled as the lethal android. Just like the viewers, Wayne identifies him instantly, screams in fright, and flees the scene.

Link (Encino Man) in Son in Law

As an avid film enthusiast, I can’t help but reminisce about the hilarious journey of Brendan Fraser’s character, Linkovich “Link” Chomovsky from the classic movie “Encino Man.” After being unearthed from millennia-old ice by a couple of carefree teenagers, Link had quite the prosperous Hollywood career for someone who was a paleontological oddity. Fraser reprised his role as Link in the 1993 comedy “Son in Law,” where he shared the screen with co-star Pauly Shore, portraying the eccentric college student Crawl. During this film, Crawl pretends to date a sheltered freshman during their Thanksgiving trip to her parents’ house. In a scene set at a Halloween frat party, Link attempts to give a plastic toad from Crawl’s Carmen Miranda costume a lick. Later on, Link made an appearance in Pauly Shore’s subsequent comedy “In the Army Now” as a fellow soldier who claimed the barracks chicken tasted “just like frog.

Ray Stantz (Ghostbusters) in Casper

The Ghostly Trio, spirits from the movie Casper, frequently summon well-known individuals for their nightly hauntings. They shock ghost therapist Dr. James Harvey when they alter his appearance into that of Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Rodney Dangerfield, and the Cryptkeeper, all portrayed as themselves in the film. However, to truly demonstrate their strength, the movie invites Dan Aykroyd, playing Ray Stantz from Ghostbusters, for a cameo. When the spectral might of the Trio becomes too overpowering for him, he quickly exits down the manor’s front steps and asks heiress Carrigan Crittenden, “Who you gonna call?” to which she replies, “Someone else.

Ray Nicolette (Jackie Brown) in Out of Sight

Prior to the establishment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there existed the Elmore Leonard Cinematic Universe. Following Michael Keaton’s casting as detective Ray Nicolette in Quentin Tarantino’s film adaptation of Leonard’s novel “Rum Punch,” titled “Jackie Brown,” he was also offered a minor role in Steven Soderbergh’s “Out of Sight.” Interestingly, his character from “Jackie Brown” appeared in “Out of Sight” as well. Miramax owned the rights to Nicolette because “Jackie Brown” began production first. However, Tarantino successfully persuaded Miramax not to charge Universal for using Nicolette’s appearance in “Out of Sight,” a brief scene where he informs Karen Sisco and her father about the possible hiding place of bank robber Jack Foley (and her father gets a chance to mock his FBI t-shirt).

Jay and Silent Bob (View Askewniverse) in Scream 3

Since the Scream films often poke fun at themselves and other horror movies, as well as the movie industry in general, it’s not surprising that they would include cameos from some of the most self-referential characters in Hollywood. In Scream 3, during a studio tour of the Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro set, two guests appear dressed as Jay and Silent Bob from Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse, complete with the signature trench coat and backward cap. They confuse Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers with real-life news anchor Connie Chung. Perhaps it was her hairstyle that led to the mistake?

Frank Martin (The Transporter) in Collateral

In the film “Collateral,” directed by Michael Mann, who isn’t typically associated with including random cameos from actors like Jason Statham, there indeed is a brief appearance. As Tom Cruise’s character, Vincent, navigates through an airport crowd, he accidentally bumps into Jason Statham, who is carrying a briefcase. After a quick exchange of significant looks, they go their separate ways, and Statham’s character disappears from the movie for good. Although he was only credited as Airport Man, many fans speculate that Statham portrayed Frank Martin from the “Transporter” series – a theory partially supported by “Collateral” screenwriter Stuart Beattie, who has suggested that these films inhabit the same fictional universe.

Doc Brown (Back to the Future) in A Million Ways to Die in the West

The legendary character Doc Brown, portrayed by Christopher Lloyd in the “Back to the Future” film series, has made appearances in various films and television shows, adding a dash of eccentric humor. One such appearance is in Seth MacFarlane’s Western parody, “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” where MacFarlane’s character, Albert Stark, encounters Doc Brown secretly fixing his DeLorean inside a barn. This scene fits well with “Back to the Future Part III” as it takes place during the same time period as MacFarlane’s movie. Moreover, this film features another notable cameo in its post-credits scene, where Jamie Foxx appears as his character from “Django Unchained,” aiming to halt townspeople from playing an offensive game at a fair.

Annabelle (Annabelle) in Aquaman

In a fascinating twist of cinematic universe building, the characters from DC Comics’ Aquaman and the Warrens’ paranormal investigations have no direct relation – except for the fact that they are both overseen by the same director in their respective movie adaptations. When horror maestro James Wan assumed control over the production of Aquaman, he included a subtle nod to one of his other franchises, subtly inserting the malevolent doll Annabelle into the film. During an early scene where Aquaman and Mera board her ship, Annabelle from the Conjuring universe can be spotted on the ocean floor, patiently awaiting discovery by an unsuspecting Atlantean, ready to haunt the depths. Moreover, Annabelle also makes an appearance in DC superhero film Shazam 2, which is directed by David F. Sandberg, who has previously helmed Annabelle: Creation. This intricate web of connections continues to unfold!
