Every Marvel Studios Movie and Disney+ Project in 2024 and Beyond

As a long-time comic book enthusiast and someone who has grown up watching these iconic characters come to life on screen, I must say that this year is shaping up to be quite a treat for us Marvel fans!

Following a whopping three-year growth spree – encompassing ten movie installments, twelve television series, and two TV specials – Marvel Studios has decided to slow down the tempo of their narrative development during the Multiverse Era, compared to the Infinity Saga period which saw an impressive over 300% expansion.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that so far in 2024, only two Disney+ shows (“Echo” and “X-Men ’97”) and one feature film (“Deadpool & Wolverine”) have been added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The much-anticipated series spin-off of “WandaVision,” titled “Agatha All Along,” is set to premiere for the rest of this year, with the animated series “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” expected to debut by the end of 2024.

2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Marvel fans as they gear up to release a trio of highly anticipated feature films and two captivating live-action series.

Beyond the distant view, we have “Wonder Man” starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II; another spin-off of “WandaVision”, featuring Paul Bettany’s Vision (or his spectral counterpart); and the comeback of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time portraying Victor von Doom.

Here is everything that’s in store — that we know about.

    “Agatha All Along” (Sept. 18)

Initially, EbMaster broke the news that Kathryn Hahn is set to headline a “WandaVision” spin-off series focusing on Agatha Harkness, the witch she portrayed brilliantly and received Emmy nominations for. Jac Schaeffer, the mastermind behind “WandaVision,” will pen and executive produce this upcoming show, which is part of her multi-year contract with Marvel Studios and 20th Television. True to Hahn’s captivating performance, the series promises to be a blend of dark humor and playful mischief.

Initially titled “Agatha: House of Harkness,” the show went through several changes. It was updated to “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” in July 2022, then to “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” in September 2023. The title was subsequently changed again to “Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe” in May 2024. However, the final and official title was unveiled during Disney’s 2024 upfront presentation as “Agatha All Along,” reminiscent of the iconic song about the witch from “WandaVision.”

I’m fortunate to be joining a star-studded cast in an upcoming project. Among them are Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke from “Heartstopper”, Sasheer Zamata of “Saturday Night Live”, Ali Ahn from “The Diplomat”, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley known for his role in “The Wilds”. Additionally, Debra Jo Rupp and Emma Caulfield Ford will be returning to their roles from “WandaVision”. It’s an exciting opportunity to work with such talented individuals!

In connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agatha’s relationship with Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) offers a rich narrative potential. Notably, when we last encountered Agatha, she was imprisoned by Wanda in her TV character role as Agnes, the ever-curious neighbor from a typical sitcom. Additionally, plans are underway for another spin-off of “WandaVision,” this time centering around Paul Bettany’s character, Vision. Further details about this upcoming series can be found below.

    “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” (2024)

Instead of the sleek, contemporary style seen in “What If…?”, this animated series will draw inspiration from the comic book roots of Peter Parker, setting the stage for him to embark on his transformation into Spider-Man.

In this adaptation of Peter’s story, you’ll encounter several fresh faces such as Nico Minoru from the Runaways group, a love interest different from Mary Jane or Gwen Stacey, Amadeus Cho who takes on the role of a new Hulk in the comics, a Wakandan exchange student, and Harry Osborn. Initially, Norman Osborn (portrayed by Colman Domingo) will serve as Peter’s mentor, with Harry Osborn also being present.

    1. Charlie Cox will lend his voice to the character of Daredevil, and Doctor Strange is also set to make an appearance (it’s yet undecided if Benedict Cumberbatch will be the voice actor for this role). Paul F. Tompkins has been cast to voice Bentley Whittman, who goes by the alias the Wizard.

As a cinephile, I’m eagerly anticipating the appearance of some iconic Spider-Man adversaries in this upcoming film. Among them are the enigmatic Unicorn, the elusive Chameleon, the lethal Scorpion, the swift Speed Demon, the fearsome Tarantula, the formidable Rhino, the volatile Butane, and the ingenious Doc Ock. Each poses a unique threat to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, adding layers of suspense and excitement to the storyline.

Jeff Trammel (Cartoon Network’s “Craig of the Creek”) is the head writer and executive producer.

Season 2 is also in the works.

MCU Connection: Earlier reports hinted that this series serves as a prequel to Tom Holland’s storyline within the MCU. However, revelations made at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, such as the presence of Harry and Norman Osborn, suggest otherwise. This leads us to speculate that we might be dealing with a multiverse scenario!

“Captain America: Brave New World” (Feb. 14, 2025)

In the upcoming storyline, the latest Captain America, Sam Wilson (portrayed by Anthony Mackie), engages in righteous battles independent of the Avengers, who have disbanded following “Endgame.” We’ll also see a comeback from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” with Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, the first Black supersoldier (previously informing Sam that America might not accept a Black Captain America), and Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres, who adopts the title of Falcon from Sam. Shira Haas (“Unorthodox”) is added to the cast as Ruth Bat-Seraph, also known as Sabra. In contrast to her comic book counterpart, who works for the Israeli Mossad, Marvel’s creators are taking a fresh direction with this character.

In 2024, Julius Onah (known for “Luce” and “The Cloverfield Paradox”) will be directing a film based on a screenplay penned by Malcolm Spellman, head writer of “FAWS,” and Dalan Musson, staff writer. Additionally, Matthew Orton (“Moon Knight”) will contribute new writing material for additional photography.

Initially titled “New World Order,” the movie was later renamed “Brave New World” by Disney in June 2023. Despite finishing the main filming before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Disney postponed the movie’s release from May 2024 to February 2025.

In the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Brave New World,” the character Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who was previously portrayed by the late William Hurt, will now be played by Harrison Ford. This time around, Ross assumes the role of the President of the United States. The trailer hints strongly at this change, and it’s also been revealed that Ross will undergo a transformation into the Red Hulk, a character he hasn’t portrayed before.

Originating from “The Incredible Hulk,” another character making a comeback is Tim Blake Nelson, portraying Samuel Sterns, also known as The Leader. In the original film, Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) utilized Bruce Banner’s (Edward Norton) blood to transform himself into the Abomination. After this event, some of Bruce’s blood accidentally landed on an open wound on Emil’s head, resulting in his transformation into The Leader. Seventeen years later, we will at last discover what becomes of Samuel in subsequent events.

In this upcoming movie, we’ll explore the conclusion of “Eternals” from 2021, where a massive Celestial appeared in the Indian Ocean and was transformed into stone. At the San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, it was teased that adamantium, a surprising element, would be found within the Celestial’s body, expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an intriguing manner.

As a die-hard fan, I’m speculating that not just Leader and Ross might make a comeback in “Brave New World,” considering the upcoming team-up film “Thunderbolts” slated for 2025. This movie promises to bring back two intriguing characters from “FAWS”: John Walker, formerly Captain America but now known as U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and the enigmatic Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). And let’s not forget about Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp)! Her post-credits reveal in “FAWS” hinted at a dark turn, as she unmasked herself as the sinister Power Broker just as she was granted a pardon and welcomed back into the U.S. government. So, what lies ahead for her character?

    “Daredevil: Born Again” (March 2025)

Every Marvel Studios Movie and Disney+ Project in 2024 and Beyond

    On Disney+

Following the conclusion of “Daredevil” after three seasons on Netflix up until 2018, Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) retreated into obscurity as Netflix parted ways with Marvel prior to the launch of Disney+. However, when Murdock was seen as Peter Parker’s attorney in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021, and his adversary, Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), resurfaced that same month as the principal antagonist in “Hawkeye,” there was much excitement about whether the Man Without Fear would make a comeback to battle crime again.

In May 2022, it was reported that Matt Corman and Chris Ord, known for “Covert Affairs,” have joined to pen and supervise a fresh “Daredevil” series. Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige revealed that this new series will span across 18 episodes, making it three times the typical episode count for a drama series within the MCU.

After that point, the series experienced a substantial creative transformation: Corman and Ord departed during production, and Dario Scardapane (“The Punisher”) took over as the new showrunner. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (“Loki,” “Hawkeye”) are set to direct most of the episodes in Season 1, which may not include all 18 episodes.

As a follower, I find myself in a unique position to anticipate potential storylines in the MCU. Clint Barton’s (Jeremy Renner) and Maya Lopez’s (Alaqua Cox) intricate history with Kingpin could significantly influence the plot of an upcoming show. It’s also plausible that Matt’s growing bond with Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), who is popularly known as She-Hulk, might intersect with this show, though it seems less likely compared to the former scenario.

The primary concern revolves around whether the storylines from Netflix’s “Daredevil” fall under the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and if they would be included in “Daredevil: Born Again.” For quite some time, Marvel Studios was ambiguous about this matter in public, but privately, there were indications of reluctance. However, in January 2024, Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum told Screen Rant that he was certain the Netflix series indeed belonged to “the sacred timeline” – the main MCU. This implies that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher (Frank Castle) will bring his entire storyline from Netflix with him when he appears in “Born Again.” It is yet unknown if other Netflix Marvel characters like Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), or Danny Rand aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will reappear.

    “Thunderbolts*” (May 2, 2025)

As a passionate film buff, I can’t help but express my excitement over Marvel Studios’ intriguing counterpart to DC’s Suicide Squad – the Thunderbolts! This dynamic team is composed of anti-heroes, or, from another perspective, reformed villains. Initially assembled for nefarious purposes, they eventually decide to atone for their past mistakes and strive to set things right.

I, an eager fan, am thrilled to share that Jake Schreier (“Paper Towns”) will helm this upcoming project, with a script penned by the talented Eric Pearson (“Black Widow”). The stellar cast includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (a.k.a. Winter Soldier) from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”; Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova from “Black Widow” and “Hawkeye”; David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov (a.k.a. Red Guardian) from “Black Widow”; Wyatt Russell as John Walker (a.k.a. U.S. Agent) from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”; Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr (a.k.a. Ghost) from “Ant-Man and the Wasp”; Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster from “Black Widow”; and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, a character she brought to life in “Falcon and Winter Soldier,” “Black Widow,” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” I can hardly wait!

Initially slated for a late 2024 premiere, the movie “Thunderbolts” had to be postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, causing a shift in its release date to 2025 instead.

During CinemaCon in 2024, Kevin Feige hinted at the film’s title having an asterisk, stating that they wouldn’t disclose further details until after the movie has been released.

Connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Each character brings along a significant history from their past appearances, undoubtedly influencing the storyline of “Thunderbolts*.” Since “Captain America: New World Order” premieres a few months prior, it’s reasonable to assume that Sam Wilson, who goes by Captain America (portrayed by Anthony Mackie), might have some involvement. Furthermore, considering Baron Zemo (played by Daniel Brühl) is a significant character in the Thunderbolts comics, there’s a strong possibility he will make an appearance as well.

With Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox (renamed 20th Century Studios), Marvel enthusiasts eagerly anticipated that iconic franchises like the X-Men and Fantastic Four, which until then were separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, would eventually become part of it.

Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”) has now been tapped to helm the upcoming film, taking over from Jon Watts, who was initially announced as director by Feige back in December 2020. However, Watts stepped away from the project in April 2022, expressing feelings of exhaustion related to superhero movie productions.

Back in November 2023, there were whispers that Marvel was considering Pedro Pascal for the role of Reed Richards, better known as Mr. Fantastic. Fast forward four months, and the studio made it official – they’ve got their Fantastic Four! I was thrilled to learn that Pedro would be playing Reed, with Vanessa Kirby stepping into the role of Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn becoming Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach joining as Ben Grimm (the Thing). It’s going to be an exciting ride!

Actress Julia Garner (“Ozark”) has been cast as Shalla-Bal, a different version of Silver Surfer, while Ralph Ineson (“The Witch”) will portray the primary adversary Galactus. Joining them are John Malkovich, Paul Walter Hauser and Natasha Lyonne in supporting roles.

In this upcoming MCU film, “Avengers: Doomsday,” while details are vague as it takes place in an alternate universe, the Fantastic Four could potentially be involved given their significant role in the comic book series “Secret Wars.” Moreover, Victor von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., has historically been a formidable adversary to the Fantastic Four. Consequently, it’s likely that they will play some part in this storyline.

In the upcoming role, Dominique Thorne (“If Beale Street Could Talk,” “Judas and the Black Messiah”) will portray Riri Williams, a character from the comics known for her exceptional engineering skills. She creates a suit with powers comparable to Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit in the storyline.

Screenwriter, poet, dramatist, and instructor Chinaka Hodge (“Amazing Stories,” “Snowpiercer”) will take on the role of chief writer. Meanwhile, Sam Bailey (“Dear White People”) and Angela Barnes (“Blindspotting”) are sharing directing responsibilities. Production for this project is being handled by Proximity, a company co-founded by “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, in collaboration with Marvel Studios.

In a new production, Anthony Ramos (“In the Heights”) portrays Parker Robbins, initially an ally of Riri’s character but eventually transforming into an adversary. Delving into forbidden magic seems to have led him down this dark path. Joining him in this cast are Lyric Ross from “This Is Us”, Manny Montana from “Good Girls”, Alden Ehrenreich known for “Solo”, and Shea Couleé, a contestant on “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.

In a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we find that William made his debut in last year’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and it has been confirmed that Jim Rash will once again take on the role of MIT’s Dean, as he did in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War.”

    “Avengers: Doomsday” (May 1, 2026)

Every Marvel Studios Movie and Disney+ Project in 2024 and Beyond

Just as “Avengers: Infinity War” paved the way for “Avengers: Endgame,” the upcoming film “Doomsday” will serve as a precursor to “Secret Wars.” Notably, Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), portraying Dr. Victor von Doom, a formidable villain who holds significant importance within the Marvel comic book universe. The directorial duo and one of the screenwriters behind “Infinity War” and “Endgame,” Joe and Anthony Russo, along with Stephen McFeely, will also be returning to Marvel Studios to helm both “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.”

The journey to reach this stage has been incredibly rocky. Originally known as “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” the project initially featured Jonathan Majors in the lead antagonist role as Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) at the helm, with Jeff Loveness (“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”) and Michael Waldron (“Loki”) working on the script. However, after Majors was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment in December 2023, Marvel Studios decided to part ways with him, significantly altering the original concept of the project.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since Doctor Doom’s primary enemies are the Fantastic Four, it can be expected that they will have a substantial presence in “Doomsday.”

Following “Agatha All Along,” the next spin-off from “WandaVision” will delve into the adventures of White Vision, a robot version of the late Vision who was created without emotions and appeared in the concluding episodes of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s debut series on Disney+.

Terry Matalas, who serves as executive producer and oversees Season 3 of “Star Trek: Picard,” is responsible for running the show, with Paul Bettany reprising his character.

As a fervent fan, I can’t help but speculate that if anyone could miraculously revive Wanda Maximoff, who lies buried beneath Wundagore Mountain, it would be the reemergence of her cherished Vision. Furthermore, given that White Vision was once entwined with the West Coast Avengers in the comics, the happenings of “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” might play a significant role in the narrative as well.

In 2015, Marvel Comics released a long-running miniseries titled “Secret Wars.” This series depicted a clash between the primary Marvel universe (Earth-616) and the Ultimate Marvel universe (Earth-1610), which ultimately led to the annihilation of both. Following this cataclysm, numerous versions of Marvel characters were discovered inhabiting a post-apocalyptic world called Battleworld.

The way the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reaches this particular stage (assuming it’s indeed the movie plot) is somewhat unclear at the moment. However, key characters from the comic book saga – such as the Fantastic Four (portrayed by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach), their arch-nemesis Victor von Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.), and others – are slated to make their MCU debuts in the lead-up to this movie and its prequel, “Avengers: Doomsday.” The Russo brothers will direct both films, while Stephen McFeely will be responsible for the screenplay.

Another point worth noting: After “Secret Wars,” Marvel Comics underwent a significant change and introduced new, altered versions of several popular series. This development certainly piqued the interest of readers.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but speculate that, given the narrative arc and its strategic positioning as the finale of the Multiverse Saga, it’s highly likely that we’ll see every single character make an appearance in this upcoming installment!

Previously, during his work on the Marvel series “Luke Cage” for Netflix, Mahershala Ali expressed interest in a remake of “Blade,” the superhero franchise featuring the sword-carrying half-vampire, originally portrayed by Wesley Snipes (often recognized as playing a significant role in kickstarting the modern superhero movie era). Wisely, Marvel gave their approval.

After that initial announcement, two directors (Bassam Tariq of “Mogul Mowgli” and Yann Demange of “Lovecraft Country”) have left the project, and at least six screenwriters have been brought in to work on the script. This rocky production journey has caused delays for “Blade,” moving its release date from 2023, then again to 2024, and finally off the calendar until a satisfactory script is achieved.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was confirmed that actor Ali appeared in a voice-only role during the extra scenes at the end of “The Eternals,” sharing screen time with Kit Harington’s character, Dane Whitman.

If you were to lose in business competition against Tony Stark, as depicted in the comics, Simon Williams experienced a similar situation. His family’s business struggled under the pressure from Stark Industries, leading him to seek help from Baron Zemo who ultimately transformed him into the superhero known as Wonder Man.

The director of “Shang-Chi,” Destin Daniel Cretton, is working on the series in collaboration with head writer Andrew Guest. This project is a part of Cretton’s broader agreement with Marvel Studios and Onyx Collective. Notably, Cretton himself will be in charge of directing.

As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his captivating roles in “Watchmen” and “Aquaman,” will portray Williams in an upcoming production. The series will also star Ed Harris, Josh Gad, Demetrius Grosse from “Fear the Walking Dead,” Lauren Glazier of “Mindhunter,” and Byron Bowers from “Swarm.” This impressive ensemble is set to bring this project to life!

In a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Ben Kingsley will once again take on the character of the roguish British actor Trevor Slattery, as seen in “Iron Man 3” and “Shang-Chi.” However, it remains unclear what this means for the storyline, although it seems improbable that the MCU’s Zemo would be the origin of Williams’ superpowers, given his consistent antipathy towards all superheroes worldwide.

At the moment, no other episodes or characters have been disclosed, but it’s certain that Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role as The Watcher in future episodes.

MCU Connection: As “What If…?” explores different realities within the multiverse, events from the previous two seasons don’t impact the main Marvel Cinematic Universe narrative. However, a deep understanding and affection for the MCU is essential to truly savor this series’ unique storylines.

By the close of Season 1 in “X-Men ’97”, the team experiences a dramatic leap into diverse eras of mutant chronology. Egypt, where they cross paths with En Sabah Nur – an early incarnation of the formidable mutant antagonist Apocalypse. According to Marvel Animation head Brad Winderbaum, a significant portion of Season 2 will delve deeper into the storyline surrounding Apocalypse.

In its unique timeline, Season 1 of this series showcased appearances by notable Marvel figures such as Captain America, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Black Panther, and Iron Man. Look forward to even more of these appearances in Season 2!

In December 2023, Marvel unveiled its initial Black Panther-themed spin-off series, an animated production centered around Wakandan warriors who are assigned the mission of globetrotting to recover perilous vibranium relics, as stated in an official communique. At present, no additional details have been disclosed, such as the writers or directors of the show, but a source revealed to EbMaster that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is part of the project.

In my perspective as a movie enthusiast, I must clarify that “Eyes of Wakanda” stands alone, distinct from the upcoming live-action Wakanda series being developed by Ryan Coogler. This series is part of a multi-year agreement between Coogler’s production company, Proximity Media, and The Walt Disney Company, an alliance announced back in February 2021. However, since then, no new updates regarding this project have surfaced.

Essentially, the title itself gives a good idea about this animated show: It’s centered around a zombie outbreak that transforms many Avengers into powerful, ravenous undead beings. This concept was originally developed in a 2005-2006 comic book mini-series by Robert Kirkman, the creator of “The Walking Dead,” and illustrated by Sean Phillips. Loosely based on these comics, an episode from the first season of “What If…?” also explored this idea.

In this upcoming series, we’ll see zombified characters such as Clint Barton (Hawkeye), Captain Marvel, the divided Captain America, Abomination from “The Incredible Hulk” and “Shang-Chi,” Ghost from “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Scarlet Witch, Okoye from “Black Panther,” and Ikaris from “Eternals.” They’ll face off against a group consisting of Yelena Belova and Red Guardian (accompanied by a team of Black Widows), Shang-Chi and his companion Katy, Kate Bishop from “Hawkeye,” Jimmy Woo from “Ant-Man and the Wasp” and “WandaVision,” Death Dealer from “Shang-Chi,” Ms. Marvel, and a Skrull biker gang from “Captain Marvel.”

It’s revealed that the same director behind “What If…?” (specifically Bryan Andrews) is also in charge of this production. Notably, Zeb Wells, known for his work on “Robot Chicken”, will be the primary scriptwriter and a high-ranking producer (executive producer).

Initially reported by EbMaster in March 2021, Alaqua Cox plays the role of Maya Lopez in the “Hawkeye” spin-off series. This deaf Native American character works as an enforcer for crime boss Wilson Fisk, also known as “Kingpin,” portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio in this production. Notably, it is the first solo superhero series centered around a Native American figure.

In this series, the primary characters are portrayed by indigenous actors like Zahn McClarnon from “Reservation Dogs” who reprises his role as Maya’s father, as well as the renowned Native American actor Graham Greene known for films such as “Dances With Wolves,” “Wind River,” and “1883”. Furthermore, Chaske Spencer from “Wild Indian”, Tantoo Cardinal from “Killers of the Flower Moon”, Devery Jacobs from “Reservation Dogs” and Cody Lightning from “Hey, Viktor!” are also part of the cast.

In a more relaxed phrasing, we can say that Sydney Freeland (from “Reservation Dogs” and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”) and Catriona McKenzie (known for “The Walking Dead” and “Shining Vale”) are the ones in charge of directing.

For the very first time with Marvel productions, all five episodes of this show are set to launch simultaneously. This series is a unique achievement as it’s the first to air concurrently on both Hulu and Disney+ platforms, and it carries a TV-MA rating.

In connection with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wilson Fisk, famously known as Kingpin, initially caused chaos on Netflix’s “Daredevil” series before resurfacing in December 2021 on the Disney+ show “Hawkeye.” Interestingly, Matt Murdock, Daredevil himself (portrayed by Charlie Cox), makes an appearance on this series as well. Prior to that, he had brief appearances in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and on “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.”

Since Disney took over 20th Century Fox, the X-Men movies ceased to exist. Fans initially expected that Marvel Studios might introduce a fresh take on the mutant superheroes through live-action films or television shows.

Instead of bringing back the initial live-action “X-Men” film due to Fox’s decision, Marvel resurrected the iconic Saturday morning cartoon series titled “X-Men,” which aired for five seasons from 1992 to 1997 and is often credited as the inspiration behind the live-action “X-Men” movies. The revised storyline centers around mutants such as Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, Jubilee, and Cyclops; they will be under Magneto’s leadership, with a new look featuring long hair and a purple suit. In the original series finale, Professor Charles Xavier was compelled to depart Earth for treatment after suffering a debilitating attack, leaving him unable to continue his work.

In the series, not only do the X-Men team up with characters like Cable, Bishop, Forge, Morph, and Nightcrawler, but also notable figures such as Mr. Sinister, Bolivar Trask, Emma Frost, and Sebastian Shaw make an appearance.

Beau DeMayo (Netflix’s “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf”) is the head writer.

In the thriving multiverse, “X-Men ’97” didn’t connect to any part of the MCU, as clearly indicated by the appearance of the “Marvel Animation” logo at the start of each episode. However, Marvel has plans for “Deadpool & Wolverine” in late 2024, so we might just witness some clever winks or unexpected antics!

As a diehard X-Men fan, I can’t help but reflect on the cinematic journey that started with the Fox studio’s X-Men films. Officially, these movies seemed to close their chapter with the less-than-stellar performances of “Dark Phoenix” and “The New Mutants,” just before the sale to Disney. However, the spin-off “Deadpool” films continue to shine as the highest-grossing X-Men movies ever, raking in a combined $1.57 billion. This colossal sum has undeniably swayed Disney and Marvel Studios to step into uncharted territories – their first R-rated superhero movie and their first film featuring a character from the Fox era.

In March 2022, it was announced that Shawn Levy, a frequent collaborator of Reynolds (“Free Guy,” “The Adam Project”), will direct the film. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on “Deadpool,” are penning the script. Later in the year, Reynolds disclosed that Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine once more. However, given his costume, it seems this may not be the same Wolverine character he played and retired in 2017’s “Logan.”

As a seasoned movie critic, I found myself thoroughly intrigued by the tantalizing glimpse of the upcoming film, “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In the enticing teaser, our beloved anti-hero, Deadpool (Wade Wilson), finds himself in the clutches of the Time Variance Authority, a familiar entity from the hit series “Loki.” Here, he engages in an intriguing dialogue with a representative, portrayed by none other than Matthew Macfadyen.
