As a devoted fan who has followed their journey since “Schitt’s Creek” and before that with “A Mighty Wind,” “Waiting for Guffman,” and “American Pie,” the prospect of Eugene and Dan Levy hosting the Emmys is nothing short of delightful. Their chemistry on screen as father and son, and off screen as collaborators, is undeniable. I can picture them presenting awards with their unique wit and charm that has made us laugh through six seasons of “Schitt’s Creek.”
The Emmy Awards is set to see a familiar face, as Eugene and Dan Levy are discussing possibilities to host the 76th ceremony, scheduled for September 15, 2024, at the Peacock Theater in downtown LA.
The team of father and son behind the hit series “Schitt’s Creek,” who both received Emmys for their work, are currently in discussions with the TV Academy. At this point, no agreement has been reached, according to sources speaking to EbMaster. Neither the TV Academy nor representatives for the Levys have responded to EbMaster’s request for comment.
Eugene and Dan Levy have appeared jointly in award shows such as the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards, and on one occasion, they co-hosted “The Ellen Show” together.
In the six-season sitcom “Schitt’s Creek” on CBC, they portrayed father and son characters Johnny and David Rose. Their wealthy family is compelled to abandon their mansion and relocate to Schitt’s Creek, a town they had initially purchased as a jest, due to a financial scheme that led to their impoverishment.
2020 saw the show receiving 15 Emmy nominations for its last season, with victories in the categories of Outstanding Comedy Series, Writing for a Comedy Series, Directing for a Comedy Series, and Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Dan Levy.
Ever since wrapping up our hilarious stint on “Schitt’s Creek,” I, Dan Levy, have dived headfirst into a new wave of creative ventures. Most recently, I wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the heartwarming Netflix film “Good Grief.” Additionally, I’ve had the pleasure to join Jerry Seinfeld in his Pop-Tart comedy, “Unfrosted,” and graced the final seasons of both “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Sex Education.” It’s been an exciting ride!
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but admire the multifaceted talent that is Eugene Levy. Famous for his hilarious roles in “A Mighty Wind,” “Waiting for Guffman,” and the iconic “American Pie” series, he continues to captivate audiences with his latest endeavor – hosting the travel series “The Reluctant Traveler” on Apple TV+. But that’s not all! He has also graced the fourth season of Hulu’s popular show, “Only Murders in the Building.” Simply put, Levy never fails to entertain and surprise us with his remarkable acting skills!
The 76th Emmy Awards are being organized by Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay, and are being helmed by director Alex Rudzinski.
Deadline first reported the news.
